Standard pub atmosphere, if you like loud inebriates. Lots of lovely outside seating with expansive sea views if the weather permits. Interesting menu for food but we went for afternoon tea - decent pots of tea but no cakes, just a couple of Biscof available. Well regarded and popular high end but deliciously simple restaurant. Serves locals and the large visiting sailing community. It’s busy and noisy through the early evening and guests seek post sailing sustenance. We had a large family dinner. Starters and mains plus drinks. is and relaxed and surprisingly quick given how busy it is. Lots of fish dishes on offer and they nail it. I had the crab bruschetta followed by the grilled plaice - both superb. Others had crab ramekin - excellent, and smoked mackerel pate. Only downside was the burgers main dishes which were run of the mill. Decent sized portions. It’s not cheap (£300+ for 7) but they do it well. Lots to like and a location. Such a cracking pub with a mix of young and "slightly" older (ahem)! Crab 🦀 with salad 🥗 and fries 🍟 was brilliant 👏😋 Seadog on tap or Birra Moretti SALE is also delicious. Lovely waterfront pub with ample waterside seating. A range of beers and wines. menu too. Tried the Old Fort burger, it was substantial with a supply of pickle, lettuce and tomato, very juicy indeed. The highlight were the skinny fries that must have been seasoned in some kind of heavenly mix of herbs and sea salt. If you're coming to the island and you want to be fed well, then head for the Old Fort at Seaview. Dish you order won’t match what you’ll get. Overpriced, at least for the catch of the day. When I asked a member of the where my spinach were (see picture), she said the beans were cooked on spinach water (??). Sounded like a gaslight attempt. Minuscule portion for 34£ + 2 small pieces of bread for 3.99£… Had our Christmas eve lunch here. We had a nice table with a nice sea view. Very and excellent customer despite being a busy for them. Food was really delicious,except the crab remekins should have more crab in it given the price for the dish. Other than this we definitely will visit again and is highly recomended if you ever visit Isle of wight.. We live not far from The Old Fort, we’ve all walked past it countless times too, but had never eaten there, we decided it was time we did, we were not disappointed, at least not by the food. This was a lunchtime booking, 1pm ish, I’d originally asked to be seated upstairs, and wished we had (more later), but, because we were running slightly behind schedule, we had agreed, at the restaurants suggestion, to sit downstairs instead, which was actually fine by me, I only booked upstairs because it’s new & fresh up there & we wanted to see it, better views of the Solent too! We weren’t shown to our seats, instead a member of pointed to a table by the window, we walked over and, after asking a rather rude man to move so we could sit down started looking at the menu. We chose our drinks & meals, in the meantime the rather rude & now very loud & boorish man was beginning to irritate us all, thankfully our drinks & shortly after that our meals arrived, we all enjoyed our meals very much, my wife loved her mussels, likewise the burger & fish & chips also went down very well. We’d have stayed for coffee & dessert, but by this time the even louder & more boorish man was doing our head in & slightly ruined an otherwise lovely meal. While staying next door but one to the pub, we had an amazing time. The were so and obliging. The food gorgeous with specials to die for. One of the lady members even fought off a spider for us,even though she was scared of them herself. I'd love to see the CCTV of this episode, I bet it was so funny to look back. I booked for 18 of us (a group walk from Ryde to Seaview and back) I had to change the numbers a few times and add a dog at the last minute but they were very accommodating. The food was efficiently served and very good. Hot and tasty. Such a atmosphere with lovely who were very attentive, music choice and not to mention the absolutely delicious food. My partner and I ordered the honey and soy wings, smash burger, bream and the cheesecake of the day and were blown away by them all. Had an outstanding meal last night. Lily was excellent, polite and kind when I was rather demanding, due to needing to catch a ferry. I've been coming to this location since there was a baguette shop next door (circa 25 years ago). For me, forget 'The Hut", this is the best restaurant on the Isle of Wight. Thank you and will see you again very soon! I met a very friend and took her to The Old Fort for lunch. The view was perfect and it was such a perfect sunny day, showing Seaview at its best. The we received was excellent. Attentive without being intrusive. It was quite busy being a Sunday but nothing seemed rushed and appeared to be well managed. My only criticism would be the roast potatoes tasted a little dry and reheated but it didn’t spoil a fantastic lunch and chat with a friend. This is a gem of a venue, rustic, vibrant with a laid back feel. The food was excellent, the efficient. They obviously use quality ingredients. The drinks choices are especially the choice of low or no alcohol beers & spirits. The only place on the Island where we were able to order a Calypso coffee without being asked what it is! Most of the meals seemed very (my lamb was delicious), but one or two were but not great. were very helpful and and the was very prompt. The atmosphere was good, but the acoustics where we were on the top floor are a bit harsh so it was a bit difficult to have a conversation around the table. buzz though.
