It’s packed full of fascinating displays about the local area, from farming life and mining history to quirky village traditions. There’s so much to see – old tools, vintage kitchenware, photos, and stories that really bring the past to life. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and there’s a lovely little shop selling mostly wool and related gifts, perfect if you’re into knitting or want a local keepsake. There’s also a small café for a drink and snack after exploring. Parking and toilets are just across the road at the campsite, so it’s really convenient. Well worth a visit if you’re in Dentdale or nearby! Up over Garsdale Head and down into Dent with its cobbled street, we arrived at Dent Village Heritage Centre. It was worth the journey! Small museums are a delight wherever you go but we particularly liked this one as it gave us the history, trades, crafts and social events in the village of Dent, over the years. It's a rich history. Added to this is a great model railway and a wool shop next door. There is also an excellent cafe with tables inside and out. Service was not bad given the number of people arriving. The couple who run the cafe made steady progress through the orders and when it came, it was really good. Free parking for the Heritage Centre is over the road and clearly signposted. It wasn't expensive to see the museum. £3.50 per adult, from memory and I thought it was great value. Thanks to everyone involved. We only called for a coffee and cake but its a very cosy place, with seating outside for sunny day's. We didn't call in the Herritage £3.50 adults, which is attached to the cafe but it certainly looked interesting. Open from 9am daily. Unfortunately I also forgot to take photos of the cakes. I had a scone, which was huge, with clotted cream and rhubarb and given jam, very nice. I was given a choice of jam from; strawberry, raspberry or rhubarb and ginger. My partner had the orange cake, another huge piece, which he said the iceing was too sweet for him, I tried it and agree. Very friendly staff albeit a bit dizzy in not getting my order right, as I confused her asking about the scone and jam she missed an item off. What a fabulous little place! We were on our way back from a long day of exploring. It was getting on and we really fancied a hot drink. We thought everywhere would be shut. Then we found the Heritage centre. The man who served us was so polite and helpful, he really was lovely. It's also worth noting that the carrot cake was one of the best I've had. The little looked really interesting....we will certainly be back to investigate further. A small village that's cramped with yesteryear objects. The is small and just about got my manual wheelchair around, trying not to knock anything down. It will definitely not fit any bigger wheelchairs or scooters. There is parking around the back of the for blue badges holders or opposite the building on the caravan site. The wheelchair accessible entrance is to the left of the building up a ramp and through manual sliding doors. There is no access to downstairs for wheelchairs so you can only view the one floor. The entrance fee was £3.50 at the time of posting this review and one careres free. There is a sit down areas inside and outside to enjoy a cuppa and some treats and view the beautiful scenery. Wonderful Sshwiss roll, so much better than regular Swiss roll. Lovely visit and look about the too. I had a triang scooter exactly like the one in the museum... made me feel very old 🤪 Dent Village Heritage Centre is a friendly little cafe/historical treasure. Firstly the breakfasts and cakes are lovely, the staff are friendly. Within the cafe is the with a fantastic snapshot of the history of the village, the railway station and the industrial heritage that was. If you are staying around here you should visit this wonderful place. We visited today and the is a fantastic collection. We absolutely loved it, so much to look at and brought back lovely memories growing up in Yorkshire. The coffee shop was lovely and served delicious cake and lots of options.
