Great fish n chips. Small portion is also great value. Amazing views if sitting outside. Sun blind not the best at giving shade. Brilliant pub, brilliant food and great atmosphere. We had been for 2 nights, first night was the chicken burger and the second was the fish and chips. The food tasted fresh and the cheesy garlic bread was to die for. The service was fast and everyone was welcoming and chatty. The outside area was nice with the heat lamps and watching the sheep in the nearby field. I loved this place and would love to return again A Hartley meal and a Solid Base for Lakeland Adventures The Wainwrights Inn, nestled in the heart of Great Langdale, boasts a prime location for exploring the stunning scenery of the Lake District. Its obvious appeal lies in its namesake – a tribute to the renowned Alfred Wainwright – and its promise of hearty food and comfortable lodging after a day on the fells. The Inn is the epitome of a charming pub that perfectly balances warmth and hospitality. Upon entering, the inviting glow of a real open fireplace immediately envelops you, creating a cosy atmosphere that feels like home. Whether you're looking for a cozy spot to unwind or a lively place to gather with friends, this pub has it all. The outdoor area is particularly appealing, offering a large space for dining and drinking that allows you to soak in the stunning surroundings. On a beautiful sunny day, it’s the ideal setting to enjoy the fresh air while relishing a good meal. Speaking of meals, they have an impressive variety of options that cater to diverse tastes. The food we sampled was absolutely delicious—hot, well-cooked, and bursting with flavour. Prices are reasonable, making it a great value for the quality you receive. It’s clear that the kitchen takes pride in crafting each dish, ensuring that every bite is satisfying. During our visit, the pub was quite busy, likely due to the lovely weather. However, the staff remained calm and courteous even as the crowd grew, which speaks volumes about their professionalism and dedication to customer service. We were impressed by how efficiently they managed the influx of customers while still ensuring every customer felt attended to. One important note for future visitors: Wainwrights Inn is cashless, so be sure to have your credit card handy to avoid any unforeseen inconveniences. One of my favourite pubs in all the Lakes. Lovely ales, great service, excellent food and when the fire is roaring and it's chilly outside, there's no better place to be. Be back again next year! I have been in here 4 times now and the service, food and overall friendly atmosphere is great. Big T the manager is really funny and the staff always chat. Prices v portions are in balance. Lovely little pub for food and a drink after a long day. Staff were generally lovely. Only gripe is my wife was at the bar and several people pushed in front of her and the barman kept serving them instead of her who'd been there longer The Sunday lunch (Roast beef) was absolutely fantastic, sausage and mash was also excellent, one of the best Sunday Roasts I've had in the lake District, we will definitely be back, service was also excellent, thanks to all 5*. Definitely the best pub so far..food amazing..staff amazing and location amazing..if anybody takes my advice in going here try the lamb Henry...WOW..
