A magnificent nestled among the rocks at the northern end of the World Surfing Reserve, home to the consistent right-hand wave of São Lourenço, which breaks off a rocky platform some distance from the shore. This long wave features multiple peaks and sections. After a powerful takeoff, the wave often flattens out, making it easier to surf. The inside face is also suitable for less experienced surfers and longboarders. When conditions are optimal and at low tide, a small break can sometimes be found. A left-hand break can even form south of the bay. However, the São Lourenço reef can transform into a big-wave spot with enormous swells capable of generating waves up to 5 meters high—more than any other spot in Ericeira! During large swells, beware of cleaning sets coming from the west and strong shore breaks at high tide ! That being said, the best time to surf in São Lourenço is between low and mid-tide and given its distance from Ericeira, the spot is generally less crowded than others.
