Small but a modern visitor center which gives you a good overview of the citadel and Gozo‘s history, nature, and culture. In combination with the other museums it is worth the 5€. Information is also available in flawless (!) German. I didn’t pay to enter the museum as I arrived late in the afternoon, but to explore the Citadel was free - so this is what I did. The complex has great views, and there are placards dotted around with information about this impressive landmark. The Citadel also contains a few shops selling local goods, and a couple of restaurants. Cittadella was Amazing!!! We have visited different castles on this trip in different countries and this was the most complex. It walls and gates and one set walls higher than the next. Stairs and alleys that made you feel like you were in a Maze. Lots of ups and downs and some dead ends. It's one castle built on and around a previous one multiple times over hundred's if not a thousand plus years. This piece of land has been a defensive point for centuries and they have the Archeology finds to prove it. Most people can go through the castle property in a couple of hours. My wife and I spent over 5 hours and didn't see everything because many things onsite close at 1 pm (1300) on Sundays. Definitely worth the visit and pay the $5 Euro for the Museum Ticket because it gets you into all the Museums on the grounds. There is one house that is worth the fee. Amazing place, historical museum on open, with two gorgeous churches and wonderful views on a whole landscape of Gozo island... Worth to visit! You will learn a lot about Maltese history and stay out of breath of nature beauty! Bought the Cittadella Combo Ticket. €13 adults/ €9 seniors and students with proof of student ID / €7 children under 11. This price bought entrance to the Cittadella Visitor’s Center, Gozo Museum of Archaeology, The Old Prison, Gozo Nature Museum and the Gran Castello Historic House. All of these places were visited and the grounds were walked within a period of two and a half hours without any stops for bathroom, coffee or food. There are plenty of bathrooms and areas to eat, drink or snack. Credit card only. Will not accept Euro. 10 minute Video available upon entry. Worth viewing before heading off to the five museums in order to get a historical overview. Bathrooms nearby the main entry: have toilet paper, soap and hand dryer. There are other toilets throughout the complex. A map is available upon entry. Not much in the visitor centre but is very informative. It’s just on the right hand side after you climb the hill before going up to the gate. It’s best to buy your tickets for all the other attractions here. We went to Gozo citadel. The citadel itself is free to enter but I recommend purchasing the museum tickets at the center. They are very fairly priced at about 5€/Adult. This ticket grants you access to the short film, the three museums in the citadel, the old prison, and the old house. All of these sites are very nicely preserved and educational. I thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Please note: the cathedral requires extra tickets not included, a minor issue that I think would be nice to add to the tickets. Great spot to visit even on a Monday (buildings are closed)! It allows views all over the island from up high. During a siege war. there was a time when all (!) Gozitans lived inside these walls!
