One for lovers as there are just earthworks left, but worth the time. Good for dog walking and kids running. Medieval entirely gone. Attractive setting on a now canalised peninsula. Well laid path for walking round the site. Excellent, informative notice boards at regular intervals all the way round. Good place to dogs. Difficult to find parking nearby. So sad that this is all that's left! But still very interesting to have this piece of history! Never visited this place on Don't expect much in the way of and don't expect anything in terms of facilities but with the new footpaths around the site and the new info boards maybe worth a quick around if in the area. Entry is free and unrestricted. Not much to see in the field but the local Historic group are working on it to see if they can uncover the hidden secrets Maybe, not much to see, but if you like lumps and bumps, trying to imagine how the once looked? Archaeologists dream. I have been a customer of this for years. I wish it was bigger but it is all our town has to offer. Lovely in the spring/summer for a wander. Not a huge site but just enough to enjoy the river, feed the ducks and to feel like you're not in the middle of a town. Quite a few small hills to roll down with the kids. Popular with dog walkers. Hills are just big enough to sledge down in the snow too. From a historical point of view there isn't much left of the castle, but there's signage to show where the was. While not much to do or see around the area, it's still nice to have a walk, often with dogs if you have any, as it's a good open field in the middle of the town. Not enough signs to provide the history of the site, and those that are there are quite worn down. Don't expect to see much of the castle, or much information. But a beautiful open place to and relax. Dog bins are provided. Nothing there Had a paddle in the river Slea alongside the site, was refreshing on a very hot day!
