I really want to give this place 10 Stars, it's that good. The food is tremendous, the exceptionally and the friendly staff make me want to go back just to soak up the local atmosphere. The manager should become a politician and run the country because she runs this place outstandingly well. The chef came to our table to talk about our needs and made our requests possible. All in all I'm definitely staying there again. Had lunch here, waitress was very friendly and gave us advice when asked about the menu We both opted for the steak and ale pie with mash and vegetables and we were not disappointed. A bit of a wait but well worth it for what felt like a homemade meal, substantial serving of mash, gravy and veg, and a decent looking and tasting pie. Picture taken half way through eating as I forgot! Lovely location and well worth a visit. We were able to park behind the pub where there is a gate to the rooms. It was a small studio courtyard room with nice extra touches like bathrobes and a fridge with cake & fresh milk. Bed was quite comfy, the linens were nice, but the pillows very flat. Unfortunately there was an awful smell coming from the bathroom, which didn't seem to be the loo & more the shower drain, so we kept the door closed & the light/fan on, which lessened the smell. Dinner was very tasty, as was breakfast, although the chef was left alone to cook & serve the breakfast, so it made it a little awkward & took some time. Obviously the missing staff member could have had an emergency, so hopefully they are ok. All in all & nice stay. Fabulous Fish & Chips. Totally awesome. Light crisp batter, perfectly cooked fish, and the chips are the best I’ve had. Trust me I’ve had lots of chips. Mushy peas taste spot on and have some actual peas. Tartar sauce is the right level of creamy and zingy. Looking forwards to Wednesday pie night where chef makes home made pies. This place is a little gem Food is always on amazing and nothing you ask is ever to much trouble. Been coming here for a few months now and not had a single bad experience Also the team are awesome Hospitality, food , atmosphere wins hands down Superb Sunday lunch for the 4 of us. One of the best we've had. Food was excellent and cooked to perfection and the amount was generous. was fast and the waitresses were extremely helpful and polite. Cracking place, will definitely be going back. 👍 Cracking roast dinner! Lovely portion with meat and veg so full of flavour. Staff were friendly and was excellent. Very reasonable priced too. Highly recommend. We booked The Bluebell for a last minute overnight stay. It's a charming old worldly Inn, lots of character with a warm welcoming feel. The owner and staff are helpful and friendly. The rooms are lovely set around a courtyard and a couple have been transformed from an old stable block. We arrived early enough to enjoy a delicious evening meal. Our only disappointment is that we don't live close enough to visit on a regular basis. Thank you, we'll definitely be back in the spring ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A1 Wedding Experience – Truly Exceptional! I had the absolute pleasure of attending a wedding today and I genuinely cannot praise it highly enough. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, from the stunning decor to the seamless organisation throughout the day. The food was nothing short of amazing – beautifully presented, full of flavour, and served in generous portions (there was more than enough for everyone to go back for seconds!). It’s rare to see that level of care in catering, and it made a real impression. What truly stood out was the team – the staff were incredible. Warm, professional, and completely on top of everything without ever feeling intrusive. They helped create a relaxed, joyful atmosphere and were a huge part of what made the day so special. An unforgettable experience and truly a gold-standard event. A1 in every way. Just spent three nights here with our little dog. Very accommodating hosts. Great value food. Enormous breakfast to send you on your way each day. Would thoroughly recommend. Well thought I best send a message for the Chef and team, I just wanted to send a huge compliment your way for dinner last night! That was one hell of a meal. We all had different things and honestly, every single meal was delightful. Everyone at the table enjoyed every mouthful. The fish and chips were superb, the batter was so light but cooked perfectly, and the chips were just as good. The lasagne was huge, proper home cooked style which is the best, it definitely sends you home with a big food smile. And the burger, if anyone wants a burger that fills you up and tastes gorgeous, this is the place to go. I tried the calamari for starters too... I think I'll be having a portion of those every time I come in for a pint now. Just yum. Not sure what else to say really other than everything we ate was top drawer and I'd recommend your place to anyone who loves a really meal out. Thanks again for the great and food! All the best, Tom Myself and my family booked for Christmas dinner. After hearing reviews. We were all very disappointed with the food and service. Sending almost all of our dinner back uneaten. The veg tasted like a garlic stirfry, plonked on top of a roast dinner. Very unpleasant. No salt and pepper or sauces for the dry starters. The poor waitresses were trying their best, but clearly the pub was too overbooked, for them to keep up. Our table was crammed so close to the next table, it made it difficult to leave our seats. Which I hasten to add , we were sat in for 4 hours. Due to the long wait for the food. And all for £85 a head. We won’t be returning or recommending. Very friendly and tasty food. The chips were the best I’ve had and the portion sizes are super generous. 100% worth a visit Disappointing, bad service, food took an hour to be served after ordering, cold inside pub. Staff members delivered bare minimum service, they looked unbothered, unmotivated. We arrived and the staff member behind the bar avoided eye contact as we walked in, and said finally after taking a slow amount of time to pour a coke for another customer said timidly.. ' can i help'... Can you help? What do you think we are here for? what is this default response that is so Unhelpful. Staff members should welcome new guests by saying confidently, 'hello, welcome!' and followed by if they are busy saying 'I will be with you in a moment'! Staff members should be encouraged to welcome guests and employ confidence. We occasionally go out for lunch together and I rarely leave reviews however our 'occasional' lunches are often met with a disappointing waste of money. What a shame.
