It’s very safe, without undocumented individuals posing as doctors or engineers like in Western Europe. Nice place to talk a long walk, for free, on the walls of Citadel. Ypu can see far away, to the sea, the city, the surroundings. All the Citadel is worth visiting, the quiet streets and hidden gems are calmer and much friendlier than Valetta, and not so crowded. It was very windy when I visited so it was a bit scary when at the very top but still a fantastic visit. Highly recommend a visit. It had a sense of strength and grandeur about it. The walkway was really windy, but had splendid so it was well worth it. You can only get to the lower levels easily with a pushchair or a wheelchair. If you want the really good then you have to climb some stairs. I wish they'd put up some information signs about the views, though. Maybe a panoramic view or sketch about what exactly am I looking at from certain spots. Otherwise it was nice and I enjoyed the vibe that I got there. Free unless you want to visit the museums / monuments in which case it is pretty cheap (5€) and can be a fun « research mission » to locate all the places to visit within the citadelle if you are with children. The view is not the best (landscape in Malta are generally pretty meh due to the numerous modern building constructions) but the citadel itself is beautiful, and you can also see craftsmen working. The Citadella also hosts the Gozo Cathedral which has a flat dome, in other words the Cathedral has not got a dome. Besides this, during summer one can admire several fireworks with the collaboration of different Gozitan villages as it is part of the island's culture each week celebrating the feast of a different Saint.
