I loved this the first time I came here two years ago but since then I have been to about 50 Roman sites in the Middle East and Turkey that are so much more complex complete whatever. A lot of work is still done to find more buildings. The area is big and will get bigger through the next few years. A historical to spent a few hours. The has some building, some better preserved than others. But the inner place with the church is very beautiful! Most of the buildings are close to the entry, however you have some that are further away. We choose to visit some further away and we can say that these are not walking to in the blistering heat. Short walk up to the restaurant with a super friendly host and little dog….views are stunning prices good. Overall, this archaeological was quite interesting! I love walking through ruins and imagining what life would have been like there during the peak of its existence. The price to get in was reasonable, and there were relatively clean toilets. My biggest gripe (and the reason for taking off a star) was the parking attendant/guard who, despite the parking lot being empty (see photo attached) told me I couldn’t my car next to the sign and had to in the trees. It’s not a huge deal, but in an empty lot it makes no sense to make the “bigger” cars farther away. It’s not like I was driving a tour bus or something… Superb. First time visiting after more than 10 years. Did not know they had created such a museum; it was really visiting with all the pieces they had displayed in there. Would certainly recommend. What I loved most was the calm atmosphere—unlike many crowded archaeological sites, this one allows you to explore at your own pace. The staff are welcoming and helpful, and guided tours are available if you want deeper historical context. Tips: arrive after 9 AM (it doesn’t actually open at 8 AM as some sources say), wear comfortable shoes, and bring water if visiting in summer. What is quite strange is the access road from the highway, where we were quite lost (highway from Vlore) some "facts" are not true and not very well organised. The artifacts are somewhat preserved and you can see lots of stuff but if it was studied enough there could be so much more to it! Less well known as Butrint, but really the visit. It's fantastic to see Greek and roman structures restored in such a way that it gives a feeling about how it was. The bunkers were a more recent addition to the history. When we were there, it wasn't too crowded, and as it's a big sometimes we felt like we had the to ourselves! Furthermore, as it's almost free roaming, you really feel luge you can go anywhere and really be up close (don't stand on the structures though!) I would highly recommend taking the small hike to the fountain of the nymphs, which was a highlight for our trip. The information from the app was a great addition to the information on the signs. Highly recommend! One very piece of (as can be seen in the photo's), but that's about it. Overall just a large without clear roads and signs to follow, and with lots of just leftover rocks. Sadly not much left of what once was, and even though the information boards try to make up for it, it just doesn't hit the spot. Definitely go if you're in the neighbourhood, but you shouldn't feel the need to plan your trip around this park. The place is amazing and definitely visiting. What’s not so great is the fact that the tickets must be purchased online or have to be paid with cash - no credit cards . The same applies to the cafe - cash only . For a tourist attraction this should not be the only option. Also make sure you go to the toilet before visiting the park- the only working wc on hasn’t been cleaned since the Roman times. The ruins are awesome, with a big amphitheater, old baths, and a monastery that’s got killer views of the Adriatic. The museum’s full of cool artifacts, too. It’s super affordable and perfect for anyone who’s into history. Totally recommend checking it out if you’re in Albania! It could do with a few more plaques with more in depth information and better markers with a more precise map but wandering around lost is all part of the experience. If you go off the track and explore, you can find abandoned bunkers and the most ruined theatre which you can explore. You must try it!
