Lovely shingle overlooking the solent towards the IOW. Peaceful, quiet and not busy when we walked the dog. Parking 🅿️ but quite expensive. Calshot forms part of a mile long shingle spit which reaches out into the mouth of Southampton Water. From here you get a great view of the ships coming and going from one of the UK’s largest ports.Beautiful rocky beach. Parking a few steps away. I arrived there at night, so an additional attraction was watching the illuminated ships sailing to the port. The itself is mostly shingle and pebbles, so it’s not ideal for sunbathing or swimming, but it’s perfect for a relaxing walk along the water. One of the positives is that there are public toilets available, which is always a helpful feature when visiting a beach, especially if you're planning a longer stay. However, don't expect too many extras—Calshot doesn’t offer many attractions or facilities beyond the basics. There are no cafés or food stalls right on the beach, so it’s a good idea to bring your own snacks and drinks if you’re planning to spend some time here. The views are nice, and it’s a good spot for watching boats or taking some quiet time by the sea. Lepe is just a short drive away, so if you're in the area, it’s worth visiting both beaches in one trip. Overall, Calshot is a simple and peaceful place, best for walking, enjoying the fresh air, and relaxing away from busier tourist spots. A lovely little pebble that has much to offer to those who enjoy seaside recreation. A perfect spot for watching ships, liners and ferries entering and leaving Southampton and views overlooking the Solent and the Isle of Wight. Very popular for sea fishing and bathing too. There are plenty of facilities and parking. Great for walking up and down, very stoney beach, but me and my girls loved running into the with our wellies and throwing pebbles into the water. Great place for picnics, just sitting and watching the world go by, watching the waves crash into the rocks and the ships sailing off. In the summer there's usually an ice cream van or 2. And public toilets near the car park. Lovely area. If you want some sort of peaceful without any drunks or loud family's then come here. No bars or pubs just a stoney beach. Good to see ship's and jet skis etc. Great views across to the Isle of Wight and lots of interesting shipping passing close by. is all pebbles at high tide but plenty of sand at the ebb. Rows of expensive huts all along the front. Calshot sports centre just along the strand. Parking is a bit steep, paid £3.40 for 2 hours but cheaper rate if you stay all day Lovely nice and peaceful and not too expensive car parking £1 for 1 hour, £2 for 2hours and so on. Recommend going all way to castle end for parking and has more option for fee of parking. This is one of my favourite beaches. I love this place because it’s not always packed. You know how it is when the temperature reaches 15 degrees in England and everyone with skin heads to the beach. We easily found a parking spot and a place on the beach. There were little patches of sand but mainly rock and shells. There was also something soft, brown and smelly too, so keep your eyes out. When you visit Calshot you can see some fantastic container ships and towering cruise liners. This is great for the little ones but I enjoy it too. They snake their way on a specific route which must be the deepest section towards the Isle Of Wight which you can see across the water. You can also see Portsmouth to the left. It’s a nice walk to along the coast and there is usually an ice cream van parked in the car park. Good idea to stock up on food and drinks when you pass the co-op on your way to the beach. Love the fact you can park right next to the Lovely secluded beach. True there's not a lot there apart from the ice cream van and the cafe, but its great on a warm day to sit and watch the ferries, boats and jet skis getting in each others way! Its like sitting next to the based version of the M1! It's a beautiful place ... Amazing for sports ( paddle boarding, kite surfing) ... It also has the best sports shop to get all your sporting needs . Great for wetsuits etc .. John the owner of the shop is one of the most genuine kind and humble humans I have had the pleasure to meet .. Went as kid 49 years ago. Still the same.
