Dog friendly, efficient service. Great menu selection even for the dog. A nice touch is the Chef delivers to your table. We both had the traditional steak suet pie, thought it was a bit sweet, maybe it's the sweet potato and redcurrants etc The presentation was out of this world. Our third visit at least. We have had the pork in the past it's like a work of art and the crackling is cracking! What a wonderful place to visit. From the moment we made the booking for a table until we left earlier today the whole experience was great. Easy access from the large car Park means accessibility ♿️ is great. A disabled toilet is available. The food was amazing. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed it here. We will be going back. There is a Mutt Menu so even yout best friend is catered for. 300 year old roadside pub run by landlady Louise. Nice selection of beers and the menu looked very tempting. Met the chef as well, who was prepping for the evening rush. The original hatches for moving traveller's luggage up into the rooms above, can still be seen in places. The pub has expanded into adjoining areas and out the back. Plenty of seating inside and in the quiet rear garden. A Saturday lunchtime we rode over on the push bikes thinking it would be a good stop off for a pint and a bite to eat. Its sad to see a pub looking on it's knees. When we arrived at 13.00, to only find a table of two, and a four in the whole place. Both had told us that they had ordered and the food was taking some time! A lovely bar man greeted us after some minutes. I asked for a coke, erm, we have cans of cherry coke he said. So strange I think. Food for the two tables arrived some 40 minutes later, a long wait. We didn't order food, as the only dedicated vegetarian dish was a veggy lasagne which in my opinion is poor. Eating out is expensive and you want to have something special, not a microwave mediocre everyday dish. Anyway, on our way out I say an advertising board looking for a new lessee, maybe explains a lot. Under new ownership in the last month. The food was delicious, homemade not high end dinning but fresh well cooked food. We booked at short notice for a Sunday lunch. Everything from the initial phone call to the food was amazing. We were seated near to the restaurant bar and it was a pleasure to watch the team working together. There was a great new member of staff working hard and being supported by his peers. A good working atmosphere goes a long way to a positive dining experience. The food was wonderful, well presented and beautifully cooked and after our 3 course lunch we could not have been happier. I would recommend booking as this was a busy setting. Dog menu is a fantastic idea with special seating areas but you would not feel isolated. We will be back and our own dog may get to sample the sausage, veg & gravy! Friend has been wanting to take me here for some time as she had a lovely experience the last time. But new owners have taken over and I'm afraid it was very disappointing wasn't asked if we would like a drink when we sat down it took ages for our starters to come and when our main meals arrived the plates were cold so food was not hot except for the pie also the gravy that came in a separate jug was cold luckily there was plenty in the pie,we also should have had peas with meal but ended up with cabbage luckily we both like our veg. We won't be returning any time soon. Popped in by chance and we were warmly welcomed and had table service for myself and my elderly parents. Drinks were served and food was perfectly cooked. Large portions and homemade. Would definitely visit again.
