We had the pleasure of experiencing the official Eurovision Song Contest public viewing at St. Jakob-Park last weekend, and it was absolutely fantastic! This proved to be an exceptional venue for such a large event. The size of St. Jakob-Park is impressive, and despite the massive turnout of around 36,000 people, it never felt overly crowded. The organizers did an outstanding job with the layout and flow. There were numerous food and drink options available, which definitely added to the positive atmosphere. The accessibility of the is also a major plus. We found it very to get there from the city center using either the tram or the train, making transportation seamless. The highlight of the was the impressive setup on the field. They had constructed a huge cube with large screens, ensuring that everyone in the had a clear view of the Eurovision broadcast. The stage on top of the cube added another dimension to the event, creating a real sense of excitement and connection. It was truly the best public viewing I have ever attended – the atmosphere was electric, and the facilities were top-notch. St. Jakob-Park is clearly a versatile and well-equipped capable of hosting major events with remarkable efficiency and a focus on the attendee experience. Ground wasn't full and tickets were to get but the atmosphere was one of the best I've seen in Europe. A 1-0 win against young boys who were top of the league made the place bounce. Also to reach with public transportation. WARNING: don't buy tickets in the stand with the ultras if you are a tourist, I was made to sit somewhere else which was incredibly frustrating. The organization of the was very well done. The is huge and actually way bigger than St. Jakobshalle, where Eurovision itself was held. The Public Viewing Show was completely sold out, and the was packed! While entering the and waiting in the long lines, many people joked, ‘Who’s even inside the arena if everyone is waiting to get into the stadium?’ :-) The stadium’s overall condition is good. It is noticeable that the whole venue is a bit dated, and it definitely needs a facelift to look nicer. Despite that, all areas were very clean. There are plenty of restrooms around the with access from any section. There are also many food kiosks offering a variety of snacks and drinks. Prices for food and drinks were mid-range, but actually reasonable compared to the generally high prices in Basel. Garbage bins were placed right by every section, which was a big plus. The seating and section numbering were well organized, so I found my seat without any problem. My seat was in Block Parkett C4, Row 16, and I had a very nice view of the whole stadium, specifically of the huge LED screen in the middle that broadcast the Eurovision Grand Final. The seat was moderately comfortable, definitely more spacious and better than the seats in St. Jakobshalle. I can absolutely recommend this specific section and row to anyone coming to the to watch a – the overall views are very clear. I’m not sure if the sound system was arranged specifically for the Eurovision Public Viewing, but the speakers worked flawlessly – the sound quality was outstanding throughout the stadium. The is to reach from Basel or from Saint-Louis, France, where my hotel was right on the Swiss-French border. It’s about 20 minutes by direct train, around 45 minutes on foot, or even faster with scooters and bikes using Basel’s bike lanes; from my hotel in Saint-Louis an Uber ride took just 12 minutes and cost €15. Another highlight was the stadium’s capacity to launch massive, spectacular fireworks – like the ones at the end of the Eurovision Grand Final. Overall, visiting St. Jakob-Park for the Eurovision Grand Final Public Viewing Show was an unforgettable experience that I truly enjoyed. I hope the venue will get a facelift and be further modernized in the future to host more high-tech events – maybe even another Eurovision someday, who knows? ;-) Had to hand in my water bottle even though they were allowed to set off sparklers and flares. Great football match Basel vs Zurich. I was neutral and had to admire the fans musical talents especially the Zurich drummer. Basel won 2-0. It was a fun attacking so not a boring defensive game. The pretzel was massive and tasted good. Great stadium. Trams stop right outside. Staff were engaging, helpful & friendly. Entering & exiting was straight forward & easy. As with most stadiums, not enough toilets or fast food outlets at half time. I know you cannot fully cater for that many people but think about making improvements, at least for food. 20mins of waiting & the line hardly moved. Most went without. Food and drinks inside was quite expensive (comparable to bar/club prices) Car parking was extremely expensive (6h = 90CHF) due to ESC special event, but still - rip off! Yet, fully occupied already 2 hours before the start. Additional parking was on the other end of the city which is about 4km away... Thanks to public transport, reachable in 30~40min. Toilettes were not optimal for unisex usecase. Men at pisuars can be watched like erotic show for women while waiting in the climoset queue. I suspect, it was designed "football is men's sport" .ind set some time back, but never adapted to new age with live concerts, etc... Staff in all stores were so kind and helpful! If you want to eat or drink something it will take you 20min+ and the people waiting will block everyone else from going anywhere. only positive aspect is for me is that you can literally go very close behind the goal during warm up which is very cool, havent seen anywhere else so far Would still not come again Was really boring and almost didn't have any vegan options.
