Had Sunday which was reasonable, not overpriced. Didn't in my view live up to being a gastropub but I'm a reasonable cook, nothing wrong with the food but I could produce better but perhaps not in the quantity. The good was, the staff were nice and reasonable attentive. Baby friendly, dog friendly. Knew their stuff about egg and gluten allergies. To be really fair it was fully booked, so I might just be on the picky side. Fabulous food and the Sunday is definitely a must try. Great atmosphere, very attentive staff and I thoroughly enjoyed their Sunday roast. A area of improvement would be the potato - not as soft and fluffy as I’d expect it to be but it was a very enjoyable dining experience regardless. Would happily return again! Top quality food - especially the cheesecake! Pleasant venue with outdoor seating too. car park on site. Wasn’t sure about the veggie option which was a vague lump of vegetable stuffing? Tasted nice but would prefer a lentil or nut perhaps. I think it was same price as meat options which felt a bit expensive. Staff weren’t quite sure what was in it either. We enjoyed our meals though. Excellent dinner and the dining room was lovely. A very problem with someone else's wine on our bill but it was rectified really quickly. Unfortunately the cheesecake we were looking forward to, and had heard so much about, was a very unique texture and taste wasn't a repeat request for any of us but some others seemed to enjoy it. All in all really nice though and we'd go back and just have a different dessert. Visited in a fairly large group (8) on a Friday evening, so prebooked which turned out to be useful as it was very busy/popular. The beef pie was incredible, so much filling, rich in flavour, accompanied with crunchy chips and some veggies, and a rich gravy. The specials dessert of blueberry and dark chocolate cheesecake was also great, and the portion of both was generous. The liber and mash another member of the group had was also amazing. Others had a mix of the nibbles/small bites which were a bit variable with some being much better that others. Service was however there was some miscommunication on detail of one of the desserts. Would 100% visit again for the beef pie alone. Visited this pub on a Friday lunchtime and went for the Ham, egg & 'proper' chips. Portion size was just right, and the chips were amazing. It was quiet in the restaurant as the sun was shining and most people were sat outside. Lovely staff and were very helpful. Will definitely be visiting again in the near future... Lovely place for a traditional sunday roast! I booked just an hour before closing time due to being let down with another restaurant who didn’t have the table to accommodate us. I’m so glad I chose The HollyBush in replacement, lovely and staff, food came quick and was so delicious! They even catered for my toddler who even had a plate of gammon, roasties, roasted veg, yorkshire pudding and gravy as the kind man mentioned it’ll be expensive for a kids plate of food for £9 for a toddler to eat, so we just paid £5 for her roast. Will definitely be back and possibly not just for a sunday as the menu looked just as good☺️. Fantastic little pub! Our favourite local by far. Food is always incredible. Staff are so and happy- dog so always a plus. They have a specials bored for drinks and love that we can always try new beers etc. Would highly recommend a visit and suggest calling to book a table as it does get fairly busy even on weekdays. Food is reasonably priced. I absolutely love this pub's Sunday roasts. They are to die for. Today's chicken was cooked absolutely perfectly. The chicken was moist, came apart well, the seasonings are delightful and the veg to go with it still had that nice fresh veg crunch to it. Also, they have a bearded dragon so that's kinda cool. One of the best dinners I’ve had in Bristol. I had the Sunday gammon and my friend had the chicken roast. We were both so happy we chose to eat here. Absolutely delicious, great portion size and fast service. Highly recommend for a dinner. Thank you! Been here for the 8 times in a row and each time it's been absolutely spot on. Can't fault one part of the roast. Great amount of food and great variety for a great price no need to look anywhere else.🤩 Had our 1st Sunday here last week after lots of good reviews, well it did not disappoint. Gorgeous food, plenty of it served by staff. Table service for drinks once seated too. Great atmosphere in a lovely country feel pub. Will be moving to the area next year so will definitely be returning Went for Sunday lunch and have to say it was up there with the best I have had, and I have been to many of the well known talked about places in and around Bristol. Had the pork and beef dinner which was amazing, followed by the cheesecake which was to die for. Thank you James and the team. Booked for a family get together to celebrate my mum birthday ... So pleased we decided to book here. Staff were friendly, helpful and the food was so good, eating in a relaxed environment would definitely recommend and we will be returning.... Thank you guys, 👌 well done. Keep doing a fab job. We had an amazing Sunday at the Hollybush. Staff were welcoming, helpful and so accommodating for my food needs and our dog. However, the food was amazing and the best meal out we've had in a long time. Just wish we didn't live over 150 miles away, as without doubt we would have returned. A nice pub with lovely interior in good setting but the food & service were not great. Very expensive £21 for a burger (average main meal price £18-£21) but taste & presentation of food we ordered was awful. They have additional dining space but would not open it up so 6 of us had to sit & eat round round table. Staff were okay, appreciate they were busy, but simple things like having to ask for serviettes, general Levels of service poor. Really disappointed this time on our visit. On a bonus they do portions which is always a bonus.
