Set menu was great value. Nicely presented, decent enough portions. Had the prawn cocktail and fish goujons and both were very good. Forgot to take photo of latter. Allowed table to be decorated with balloons prior to arrival. very helpful in dealing with Birthday cake surprise and even sang Happy Birthday. Waitress was very the whole night. From the minute we entered we were greeted by a lovely girl who was bright cheery and very welcoming so tick tick right away. It has a lovely relaxed ambience with plenty of areas to sit in before dining. We went for the 2 courses at £14.95 which is outstanding value for money especially on today's climate and the meal was spot on....large portions of steak in the steak pie followed by stick toffee pudding which was delicious. Everyone who was on duty treated us like royalty....service was outstanding with the lovely waitress ( think she was called Sam???) making sure we were topped up with drinks throughout the evening. We couldn't have got better if we had been in a 5 star establishment. All the waiting were friendly and really helpful so a huge credit to the team/management Food excellent - - very reasonably priced...will definitely be back!! Special thanks to Karen for looking after us so well :-) I have been visiting The Boarding House for a few years now and where it was previously excellent something has changed, this is not due to the waiting but due to the inordinate wait times for food, a few weeks back it was almost one hour (and one dish missed from order) and last night 40 minutes, food was fine, waiting attentive, wait times unacceptable. Had the 20 quid meals with drinks . Yes for 2 ppl. Large portions main meal plus soft drink. Really value. Dog friendly. Enough to choose from on 20 quid menu. Very pleasant modern surroundings . It WAS very however I was disappointed after my visit yesterday. The was the slowest I've ever experienced.There was only one girl serving. It wasn't busy when we arrived but we still waited an hour to get our food. 2 salads. How can 2 salads take an hour to produce? The coffee and cake were very good, the main course not so good. Can't see myself rushing back. We had dinner to celebrate a birthday. The 2 waitresses on were super helpful and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend and will come back again. Our server Logan was absolutely amazing, he was polite and friendly and his was perfect and comprehensive. If I had one reason to go back, it would be Logan. They accommodated us without any hassle. My partner and I had our 3-year-old with us, and the were absolutely with her—so friendly, patient, and genuinely welcoming.
