Very quiet and calm.. Stone that I never have heard about. It was very nice to see, a beautiful, serene setting. Unfortunately all information on the boards was mainly in Danish, so we learnt the essence of what this stone ship actually represents only after the visit from the internet. It's a runestone more than 1400 hundred years old and the best preserved Ancient monuments and camping spot. Two bronze age burial mounds and a stone longship with runestone, commemorating the loss of a lord. Camping platforms, eating area, fire pits, water, toilet and bike station (with air, electric and full tool kit). Set in beautiful woods a short walk from the carpark. There are information boards in Danish, English and German. The rune stone is very cool and you can clearly see the shape of a ship the smaller stones make. There are also 2 bronze age barrows, also with information boards Mystické a krásné místo, lze i přespat Impressive runestone, placed at the stern of a boat setting of stones. Its in a nice forest, with facilities for grilling. Great stop to have a short walk and look at some ancient historical artifacts. Var på Viking marked og det var super godt Discover the lost history of the longest Rune-Inscription ever found in Denmark! ⚔️ -Remember to bring a picnic basket, as the surrounding forrest is packed with great lunch-spots! 🧺🥪 This is a wonderful part of Denmark’s history. The site holds both Viking and Neolithic historical relevance as it contains the Rune stone, a Viking ship burial and two Neolithic burial mounds pre-dating the Viking significance. There are also a lot of other Neolithic sites in the geographical area surrounding this site that are worth checking out!! Dolmans (one perfect for investigating in the little Town of Skamby near by) and other Neolithic burial mounds, etc. No access fees for this site unless the Viking market is being held (last weekend in August and a really cool offering as it has opportunity for hands on learning on how the Viking lived and produced different wares.) It is staged in front of the entrance with a little village of tents and fire pits, but there is a means to bypass the event by hiking around the entrance through the field side to get to the historical sites. The site is on Stenager. Google takes you to the wrong place if you come from a certain direction. It has signage marking it and sits within a copse of trees surrounded by rolling farm land. There is parking at the site.
