It's worth a visit for sure if you like science (but why else would you end up on this page? ) I am giving this 4* when I would so much like to give it 5*. We are from the UK and have been to Jodrell Bank and the Planetarium. As we were staying nearby this was an obvious choice for us as we are interested in the sky/stars and technology. It is the 4th largest radio telescope in the world. We looked round the exhibition which had alot of things to view. Our issue is we speak very little French and assumed that there would be some information in English. We are wrong to assume this and should, I know, make more of an effort to learn more French as we holiday here a few months each year. Also in the Planetarium experience only half of the show did we have an ear set which was in English. A young and obviously knowledgeable gentleman then continued with the remainder of the tour. Again in French so we only picked up snippets. So, in summary, if you are English you need to be fully conversant in French to get the best out of this visit. We will be taking French lessons when we get home! If we are ever nearby we will definitely return to gain the best experience. There is no English nowhere, I understand many things due to the fact that i love astronomy, but you should make english descriptions to all there. Well after reading some of the reviews on here we were unsure whether to go into the visitor centre or not, we did and I’m so glad that we did, the couple at reception were very friendly and both spoke some english, they even arranged for us to have an English guide in the planetarium, The planetarium itself was in two parts, the first with the guide giving us a little explanation in english, for the second part we were provided with audio headsets with English narration. All in all a very well worth experience and good value. Take note, no mobile phones or other wifi devices are allowed, we left ours in the car, there is no 3g4g signal anyway. Extremely good guided tour Not a review, just a question…when driving through Nancay the mobile phone signal was completely dead…is that something to do with the radio telescope? We thought he was brilliant. Do everything it was a real treat. Thankyou. Wonderful experience - we had phoned before our visit and an English speaking member of staff was there to meet us. He gave us the Planetarium talk and a tour of the telescope site. He was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions very clearly. Would definitely recommend for anyone with an interest in astronomy.
