A fantastic day out for adults and alike (even in the rain!) A very nice, simple lunch menu served. Enjoyable experience. A lot for the to do. We all dressed up in old cloth and set out to do the quest provided.. at one point , some guy was showing of the trebuchet, and we stayed in the meanwhile. Had it all to ourselves... Perfect! Château de Mélusine, 2 Rte de Marennes, 17620 Saint-Jean-d'Angle, France. This place is a must visit with if in the area. There is so many fun activities to complete during the visit, it kept our busy and happy for around 4 hours. For the amount of fun it is really good value for money. One of the best places we have visited! Great for the they loved exploring the and the grounds! Plenty of medieval type games to entertain them. A small maze made from maize. There is also a quiz to do answering questions as you go around. The English version of this just didn't make sense pity for the as it was quite educational. Also the explanation plaques were only in French-Google had difficulty translating these. The catapult was nice to see but again just in French and a pity only 1 ball was fired. Great half day out. Nice castle, great trebuchet demonstration and lots for to do. Would recommend. Very original medieval visiting experience. Lots of corners in the small chateau to be visited at your pace. Quizzes separately for French, English and for visiting promote curiosity. The best part is that everyone can choose his beautiful medieval costumes to wear during the entire visit. We went here on holiday last week as a family of four with children 7 and 9. We absolutely loved it. On arrival my children pointed out the Disc Golf course on the welcome sign which was an unexpected added bonus but unfortunately it wasn't up and running at the time. The is incredible. It is clearly a passion project and the love that has been put into restoring the is evident but the key to this place is the love of fun that goes with it. There are games everywhere you look, all perfect to enjoy together as a family and all in keeping with the Chateau and surrounds. History is well represented and information is given throughout but weaved superbly with the ability to play as it's taken in. An absolute favourite was the new games trail that follows the story of the fairy Melusine. It was so simple and yet so much fun to walk learn and play in a beautiful setting. The only criticism would be if your French is not at least passable you will struggle to get the full benefit, it could do with some translations to English and German judging by the mix of other nationalities there. We noticed on the website that it was open from 9.30 for the week we were there and if you get similar with your timings I would highly recommend setting an alarm and getting in early. We had an hour of the to ourselves and it was frankly a playground for all of us! We have all gone away with the as the highlight of our holiday and would highly recommend anyone spending a day there. It is excellent and incredibly good value for money. Perfect day out for all the family. The has been beautifully restored with great attention to detail, especially the dungeon. The adventure trail was very engaging with an engaging mix of learning and activities. Pretty ballsy of the trebuchet guy to go solo against a castle's defences without any infantry support!
