I think its obviously a restaurant, but I think they miss the point a little in some small ways ! They need to resist the temptation to add spices and extras to every vegetable ( the red cabbage last night was unbearably sweet and spicy), and in my opinion, they need to let the meat to be the star of the show. I had a fillet steak last night and it was cooked very well and was very tender, but why when I ordered a cheese sauce, did it come with a dark sauce already topping the steak ? We dined and stayed over in the old lambing yard with our two young children. The restaurant & bar has a really homely, welcoming atmosphere and the were really and kind. The menu has lots of choice and there are also changing specials. The food was well presented and every course was delicious. To say the place has a Michelin star, the prices are very reasonable considering the and presentation of the food. They have a children's menu and were very welcoming of our two year old. The list was sectioned into different dishes (cow, pig, sheep) to help pair with food which was really novel and very helpful! Our room was in the old lambing shed which is a few minutes walk to the pub. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated with a real luxury feel. We will definitely return Amazing food, really tasty and presented beautifully-chef definitely knows his onions!. are really brilliant here. Very professional and friendly. Was on the shandy because my turn to drive, but will be enjoying several real ales next time 😋 Birthday lunch. I'd like to give six stars for everything. This place is fantastic. Perfect setting and buildings. The food is exceptionally good. All six of us really enjoyed every course. get 10 stars Very organised and efficient but also chatty and great fun. My New favourite birthday place. PS it's not that expensive for what you get, Stayed at the Pipe and Glass over the weekend for friends celebration. The rooms are lovely and comfy but a little pricey and the foam pillow was uncomfortable hence dropping a star. Should be feather at this price! The are brilliant! Very helpful and chatty. Food was and what you would expect in a place with one Star! A fantastic place for a celebration, we enjoyed a birthday lunch at the Pipe and Glass and were impressed from start to finish. The setting is beautiful, cosy yet elegant, and the atmosphere made the day feel special. The food was bursting with freshness and flavour, and every dish was beautifully presented. The were warm, welcoming, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. An absolute gem – well worth a visit for any occasion! The food here is as as it gets. I couldn't recommend this place enough for food. Also the here is second to none, with being extremely attentive during your meal and even at the bar. Book a table in advance to avoid disappointment. This is top tier and well worth it. We've been to Pipe and Glass twice this year, both times to celebrate certain major birthdays, and both times we were treated to an amazing dining experience. I would certainly recommend Pipe and Glass to anyone to go and enjoy the best culinary around. The food was simply delicious, first class, so very well presented, and served by very smart, knowledge, polite, and efficient staff. A most enjoyable restaurant experience, thank you. Visited with the wife for our wedding anniversary. were and made us feel welcome. The food was great and nicely presented. Great selection of to complement the food. Overall, the place is clean, the toilets were spotless and scent nice. The free parking is a plus. We will visit again. Can't fault it. Perfect location; peaceful, picturesque and quiet. The was impeccable and the rooms amazing (massive, well equipped, comfy, romantic and thoughtful. But the food is on a different level again. Absolutely stunning. Not cheap, but worth every penny. A very warm and welcoming pub and 1* Michelin restaurant. If you want a quiet relaxing spot with excellent food and drinks this is the place for you. The establishment is spotless and well maintained by that are friendly, helpful and obviously enjoy working there. They food is as you would expect well presented, plentiful and delicious. I can definitely recommend it for a treat. Excellent service, brilliant food really couldn't fault it. From the starter to the dessert. Enjoyed every mouthful. Plenty to choose from the drink menu. I really like the way it's been decorated and the grounds too. I've been a few times with family and we've all enjoyed it. Excellent meal and brilliant service. The four of us each had a different 3 course meal. Each plate brought to the table was really delicious and the usual "oh your food was better than mine." Didn't occur. We just all tasted each other and decided we needed to go back at least 4 + times so we could all taste everything on the menu. I expected a bigger bill even though we didn't have much alcohol, just a glass of wine. However, I have in the past paid a lot more for meals, which have not nearly been as good. We had a lunch yesterday and were absolutely delighted. We had read some reviews which suggested the P&G had inflated prices however all we can say perhaps the phrase "knows the price but not the value " could be applied to those reviews. The food and were 1st class. Every member of we encountered was friendly, professional and knowledgeable knowledgeable, without being obsequious! The food was imaginative and so well balanced. It is not inexpensive, however we left with the feeling that we had great value. Thanks for a lovely 😊. Sorry I dont take photos as I would be happy to share if I had!! A Perfect Birthday Treat at The Pipe and Glass I had the pleasure of celebrating my 68th birthday at The Pipe and Glass in South Dalton near Beverley, and I can honestly say it was one of the best dining experiences I've had in years. From the moment we arrived, the was faultless. Every single member of was warm, welcoming, and genuinely lovely – nothing was too much trouble, and they all went out of their way to make our visit special. The food was absolutely outstanding. I started with the pâté, which was rich and beautifully presented, followed by the 30-day aged steak salt beef with a watercress and pickled red onion salad, smoked hollandaise, and chunky chips. Every element was cooked to perfection, full of flavour, and plated with real care. For dessert, I had the ice cream with honeycomb (proper cinder toffee!) – simple, nostalgic, and delicious. Rowena had the fish pie, which she said was one of the best she’s ever had – packed with flavour and topped with creamy, golden mash. She enjoyed a refreshing glass of cider with her meal, followed by a couple of glasses of the house white, which was crisp and well chosen. The setting itself is just as impressive. We were lucky enough to sit outside in the beautiful garden at the back – a peaceful, well-kept space that made the whole feel even more special. It was the perfect spot for a relaxed birthday lunch in the sunshine. This was Rowena’s birthday treat to me, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The Pipe and Glass is a real gem – a wonderful combination of outstanding food, excellent service, and a stunning location. We’ll definitely be back. A great all round, our room was lovely with a cute little courtyard. The pub itself was cosy and welcoming. The were attentive and professional and the food was excellent. Fine dining in a lovely relaxed environment. Had a celebration meal for the engagement of our daughter Jessica and her partner Cameron and we could not fault anything. The food and was first class. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to anyone. Thank you for a wonderful experience. See you again I'm going round experiencing the best that the East Riding has to offer by way of Sunday roasts. I was really looking forward to this one and I was right because this is THE best roast I have ever had. Even better than my mum's (sorry mum). I always skip starter so went straight to mains with the half-and-half meats (beef and pork). Firstly the portion sizes were big. I was expecting smaller as this was "fine dining", but no, there was a huge amount of food. The beef was melt-in-the-mouth, the pork cracking was just sooo good, the roast potatoes were a thing of divinity and then there were these (I think) pork scratchings. Whatever they were, I could have just munched on them for two hours without anything else - they were that good. I also "managed" dessert having the sticky toffee pudding with a teeny-tiny glass of stout. I absolutely loved it. Let's talk alcohol. Rather than rip off the customer with overpriced retail wine, Pipe and Glass have their own label house red and white which you can buy by the glass for ridiculously reasonable prices. I have done tasting courses as I worked for a merchants in the past and the of the house was really very indeed and certainly value for money. I resisted buying a couple of bottles to take away, but am now regretting it so might have to visit again. So, in summary, a Michelin star restaurant, two mains, one side, one dessert and alcohol (one pint cider, two medium house reds plus soft drinks) came in at around £120 which is value for money when you consider the and care that was put on the plate. Finally the staff. Brilliant. Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Everything you want at a place like this. When you book you are given a two hour slot, but you don't ever feel rushed. I must say the location is lovely too, down a little single-track road, past the duckpond, past the lovely church - amazing. Came for the Sunday roast, got the 1/2 & 1/2 beef and pork. It was absolutely unreal, 10/10. The ambience of the restaurant is stunning and the are incredibly and attentive. I can’t wait to visit again! We also got a little complimentary brownie at the end of our meal as it was our anniversary, which was very thoughtful! Having visited before, we knew a voucher for Pipe and Glass would be the perfect gift for my parents to say thank you for their help with our wedding. Of course, life gets in the way a little and it's almost a year already! My parents were panicking about their voucher running out so I rang through to their booking office. Emily answered and was most helpful and wonderful, getting them booked on and honouring their voucher too. An absolute gem of a place and the loveliest staff! Would definitely recommend. The food at the Pipe and Glass was outstanding. A sumptuous prawn cocktail, expensive but it is a Michelin starred pub so it was to be expected. That was followed by an outstanding fillet steak, cooked to perfection, and with a really tangy peppercorn sauce. The dessert was also fabulous with beautifully rich chocolate and a rather potent liqueur coffee. However the was disappointing. I think the waitress knew a few of the customers well as she would stand chatting to them for 19 minutes whilst we waited to be served. I'm all for getting to know your customers, but not to the point of ignoring other customers. That said, we will return and hope for better next time. We have visited a few times in the past and always had a as well as amazing food , however that was not the case now . We felt the were abrupt and polite but not . One server constantly hovered and barged between us whilst chatting to fill our water glasses up and slop water onto the table . I watched him do the same with on the next table . He also said, I quote “is it smash and grab today ?” As we didn’t want a starter (we never do anywhere) and I didn’t want a second glass of . We paid and then had to ask for our coats so we could leave . The next table sent their steak back as it wasn’t cooked right and the table behind asked where their bread was when mains came , their reply was do you still want it now ? My point is it definitely didn’t feel like a Michelin star , however we couldn’t fault the food . I won’t be rushing back ! We have been wanting to try the Pipe & Glass for a while. The Chef and place comes highly recommended and with 1 star you think it will be worth the planning of this visit. Sadly and we hate to say, we were really underwhelmed. Prawn cocktail starter - the prawns were very watery. The game was dry. Fish main - overcooked and very fishy tasting in the terms of this was old fish. Cardamon carrots - way overcooked and almost mushy but respect this could be their preference and not ours. The mashed potato had zero seasoning or flavour and was quite shocking. Had to do a few tastes before getting feedback from the rest of the table who all agreed. Almost like whoever had made this, they did not check or get it checked by a senior Chef. All served beautifully but just did not represent the standards and it portrays to be. The ambience could be nice but for some it is just too dark. Myself and Partner visited for the lunch menu. Nothing disappointed us. Everything from the and presentation of the food, surroundings, attention to detail were grand. However, what really made our was the knowledge of the different components of the dishes which were explicitly conveyed to us by our waitress,Mary I think her name was. My only gripe was the 15%service charge on top of the bill. (After all I'm from Yorkshire so that can be expected) All in all a real treat.Thank you Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
