Deep Blue & at wetwang is a very popular chippy and always busy. The service is quick and the staff are very friendly. The is cooked to order and very good the are excellent. There is plenty of choice on the menu, and homemade cakes are to be recommended. There is a nice outside seating area and plenty of parking. There is also seating by the pond. I have often stopped here and never been disappointed. Excellent cod each and shared a portion of between two (plenty for us) with mushy peas and tartar sauce! Perfect and cooked fresh to order. Tried haddock too another time but it had been frozen so not as good as the cod which was big white flakes and just what you expect. Will definitely call again on our way to/from Whitby! Would love to have given this a good review because the food was ok but the ordered, portion of was tiny for 4 people and the person taking the orders had zero personality to the point of making everyone in there feel uncomfortable. We wanted a order and I asked the person taking orders if a would be enough for 4 people, she looked blankly at me/through me and continued like this for all of the orders! The guy cooking in the back shouted it would be plenty so I ordered 1 chips, 4 fish, 2 mushy peas, drinks and some ice creams all to takeaway. When we got home the "large chips" turned out to be 4 per person for 4 people! I would have gotten more if I'd asked for them all to be boxed up individually. The batter from all of the stuck to the paper as they didn't wrap them in greaseproof! I imagine that the boxes cost the shop more money than wrapping everything in paper as well but still they were stingy! Great and for a reasonable price. A solid choice if you have the craving for a good chippy. I had the light bite option with mushy peas and it was a generous serving, the regular must be gut busting! Just ordered a portion of for myself and my husband they were absolutely awful. They were only just warm and looked like yesterdays that had been warmed up to the point of being burnt. Never had such awful they were disgusting and most of them went in the bin. This did used to be a decent and chip but it certainly isn’t now. AVOID as they are also quite costly for what you get. Served beautiful food by Danny and Saffy. (I believe I’ve got there names correct) They were both extremely polite and accommodating to myself and my gluten free son who has never had and before. I didn’t get the name of the Young man behind the fryer but I would like to thank him for making sure there was no cross contamination. I had seen him washing his hands thoroughly anytime he went to the side of the fryer which I was told was the gluten free part. Would highly recommend to anyone. Perfectly cooked food and brilliant service. Made more impressive by the fact they worked so professionally while very busy and in extremely hot conditions. Sorry but the food was awful and we won't be back. and are now very expensive so we look at them as a treat. We feel we wasted our money here....terrible ....food tasted overcooked, peas just tasted odd.....sort of smokey. Avoid ...not the place it used to be Used to love coming here as the and were seond to none when it was Whiteheads. Been today and it was terrible. The must have been triple cooked and hard and the warmed up. Also the tables were all dirty and not wiped down. Won't be going there again.
