It's possible to make a nice circular walk to and around the castle. The descend is quite steep and can be slippery. Be sure to put on your hiking boots. Excellent tour by Young lady. There is a short before reaching the top, but the trail is very well kept and it is a very enjoyable walk. The itself is beautiful and the sight you get from the top is one of the best you can get in the Toscana. If you are a photographer do not forget your tripod and telephoto! The actual fortress is closed most days of the year, but that bike and part, plus some views is good The opening times are only posted on the gate to the which is a tough 15 minute walk through forest up a steep hillside from the car park. Be aware that you need to take a tour to enter the fortress and tours are only available in the evening starting at 17:00 until 19:00 (latest tour start).
