A local. Friendly This establishment is divided into two sections. One side is the bar, the other is the restaurant. The bar is a little noisy but it was a Friday night. So we came into the restaurant and found it to be a lovely place. were really friendly, the meals were delicious and everything was really cheaply priced. If back up in Scotland my fiancé and I will definitely call in here again. Highly recommend. Great pub Mothers day Lunch. Amazing place, we felt comfy and relaxed. The food was great. were really too. We popped in here on Sunday for Sunday and we were not disappointed. The food was very and the service was excellent. We were in the bar as there was a christening or something on in the main restaurant so the atmosphere wasn't great but it was acceptable. Overall I would recommend the golden pheasant, certainly was a surprise how the actually was. We will be back. Our first time at The Golden Pheasant last night and it certainly won't be our last! We were there tasting our wedding breakfast menu and it was all delicious, really well prepared and beautifully presented. The are all SO friendly, we felt like we were being treated like "regulars". We've got a tricky decision on our hands choosing what to have on our wedding day and look forward to coming back to try what else is on the menu! Food is really Really place setting meal. They have gluten-free batter, so we ordered a gluten-free fish and chips and a chicken katsu burger. Both were excellent. Didn't have desert as was full, but they have gluten-free sticky toffee pudding. It's worth a visit if you are coeliac. My Husband and I dined at the Golden Pheasant on a sunny Thursday evening and it wasn’t that busy. The Cajun Haddock was very tasty and it looks a great venue with quite regular events including guest acts/ singers and comedians. I’d recommend you get there early as the kitchen was closing at 1945. Afterwards we took part in an excellent quiz next door in the bar. The quizmaster clearly loves his music and indulged us in some brilliant indie tunes and presented a well researched reasonably challenging quiz. We are regular quizzers and know a quiz/quizmaster from a bad one! We will definitely be back in the future! We also liked seeing the exterior- the cockerel and his hens in their pen and there’s plenty of benches outside. We popped in as we were passing and we are glad. Sat in the restaurant as a family of 3, thankfully they had a table, but most of these were booked already. were very friendly and we never felt under pressure at all. Food was 5 star! Big portions for the price. We would happily come back again due to the great experience. The were extremely friendly. Amy was our server this evening and was very attentive. The disabled access was very in the restaurant with disabled toilets. No disabled toilets in the bar, however! food was lovely and will definitely be back. So disappointed. Service was terrible, we were showed to our table and that was it. We had to go down to the bar and ask to place a drinks order (twice) then we placed our food order for 4 adults and 2 kids and waited an hour. Food wasn’t great, bland milky macaroni, dry tasteless burger, no one enjoyed it. No one came to clear the table and we had to go down and pay the bill, as no one came to see how our meal was or if we wanted anything else. We gave the kids ice cream back at the house. It’s a shame as this place has potential to be but last night was really really bad and we won’t be back because of it. Visited with my mum on the way home from town. Hadn’t booked but the were just lovely and gave us a seat in the bar. The bruschetta with mushrooms in a creamy saucy was delicious, so tasty and the steak pie was lovely. The beef was so tender and plenty chunky chips. Will definitely be back We went for family get together there were 23 of us. Food was excellent. Lovely helpful friendly staff. We will definitely be back. Kids loved the hens outside Great night at my daughter's gender reveal. The could not have been any more helpful and the buffet was delicious. Would highly recommend. This was a very poor experience, with poor quality food and poor service. We'd booked last minute, and were looking forward to a meal on the last night of our long weekend away. What we got was mostly frozen ingredients - a Sunday where the only thing that didn't look like it came from Aunt Bessie was the honey ham (which was nice), and vegetable fajitas where the vegetables were... the same frozen mixed veg that came with the roast, rather than the peppers, onions and mushrooms you'd expect. Not to mention that I had to ask for the decidedly anaemic Yorkshire puddings that were supposed to be included with the Sunday roast. On top of that, the service was poor. I'd already ordered my apple crumble with the main course, and yet the table next to us received theirs before us despite ordering it afterwards. When I asked about my pudding, I still had to wait, and it was served with all the aplomb of pizza dough being slapped onto a kitchen surface. To add insult to injury, the bill came with a pint of Tennants and a lemonade that we hadn't ordered. It was duly corrected, but I can safely say that we won't be visiting the Golden Pheasant again.
