Not my cup of tea when it comes to enjoy a play. Although, they manage to get good stage directors which stage nice productions, with small budgets. It's a gorgeous events venue! You can enjoy various theatre plays, art galleries and movies. However, I have to say that the seats in the main hall are very uncomfortable. Was surprised to find this public scientific cultural institution in a location so far away from the city center. Don't get me wrong, i am not suggesting the location is bad, i was delegated to Iași by my employer and was offered an service apartment in this neighborhood( Tatarași colony) full of comunist apartment buildings, so i foundit a bit awkward to place it here. There is also a peasant market 50 meters away from the building and right in front of it you can place bets and gamble in one of the notorious by now sites like this around the citys. So yes, i find the location a bit strange. Passed by the buidling a few times before and i was under the impression it was a hotel, as the arhitecture is sad and unimpressive. This time i entered and attended a christmas concert. The interior is clean but not what expected and the front hall is tiny and it smells fishy as the security guy was eating he's meal in a small room not far from the entrence. De apreciat ca ați modernizat sala dar cum rămâne cu scaunele noi, stat așezat trebuie sa stai cu genunchii la piept, altfel imposibil cum s- a calculat distanta dintre rânduri... Curat, decent, personal amabil. Scaunele incomode, f apropiate pe stilul "Wizzair" si parcarea in zona este extrem de greu de gasit. I come here often, since they modernized the place, I love the Romanian and foreign movies and the sound quality is good overall, prices ok and not so crowdy, but my biggest complain (and not only mine) will always be about THE CHAIRS ! Someone should do something about those horrible chairs, invest in fewer but bigger comfortable ones, like in other modern cinemas, because I can't sit for 2 hours on that, I would gladly pay extra for the ticket just to sit relaxed and enjoy a movie, and not have to do a massage after. A place for ocasionally good shows like the below group from China Henan province. Also several cultural centers like Deutsches Kulturzentrum Iasi have festivals organized here anually like DocEst international documentary festival. I attended a symphony concert here after my last visit from around 4 years ago. The place has been renovated sometime during that time and looks great now. The staff was helpful and handled the crowded event well, brought extra chairs quickly without delaying the show. The atmosphere was positive. Overall, I had a great experience. This place is amazing, but the thing is we planned to do an exhibition there but when we arrived we found nothing prepared and the stuff was rude to us. So the place is amazing but the stuff working there are so rude. I am glad this place got the renovations it deserved and that now it hosts lovely shows/plays and movies. They play movies from festivals that you don't get to see at the regular cinema and for prices way more reasonable. The staff is nice, their website works fine to get the tickets. I think it's one of the best cultural institution this city has, ran by a fresh and down to earth management team. Besides theatrical acts (for both children and adults), they also have a certified cinema and plenty of other cultural events that are being organised monthly.
