Very cosy winery in the historical centre of Villa Castelli. The service and the explanation of what to drink and the food were great. We had an "aperitivo rinforzato" and a bottle of red wine: food was excellent. We tasted different specialties, from cheese to meat to veggies and bread, result of a collaboration of the winery with the shops. Absolutely recommended. We booked ahead so as not to miss out on this hidden gem due to the limited indoor seats (there are also outdoor seats in the height of summer). The surroundings are intimate, a beautiful vaulted ceilinged room, filled with the best and Italian wines. Ronnie and Danni were superb hosts for our culinary journey around the Valle D'Itria. Having no menu, taking the finest, freshest, seasonal ingredients from the region and showcasing them in small plate format. Across several courses, we were treated to meats, cheeses, vegetables, and breads. Special mention needs to go to the buratta, the chilli Ricotta wrapped in riddled courgette, and the Martina Franca cured meats. We drank a white wine and enjoyed lots of discussions with Danni about the sourcing and preparation of the dishes. Run, don't walk, to this excellent restaurant. Malheureusement, à chaque fois nous avons trouvé l’ambiance antipathique et prétentieuse , le patron a même annulé une réservation faite plusieurs semaines à l’avance le jour même du repas sans justificatif plausible, et puis de toutes façons, trop cher pour des plats froids et vraiment pas sympa. Serveuse et propriétaire récitent le même texte appris par cœur. Ça manque de spontanéité et de générosité. Une ambiance vraiment bizarre. The place is very cosy and welcoming, and the service is superb. The owner is a friendly person who took pleasure explaining to us the choice of wines and then proposed a degustation menu that included cold cuts, warm bites and even vegetarian options, with the specialties of the area. Excellent quality of products at an affordable price. The staff is also very friendly. I definitely recommend coming here if you are looking for delicious food, a cosy place and great service.
