Driving range is excellent because one can hit off real tras and not those matts we had three wonderful days at modry las. the course is with no doubt one of the best i’ve ever played. great design, beautifully layed out into the wonderful landscape. not easy with deep bunkers and lots of water hazards, ondulated fairways and greens, but fun with a good bunch of risk-and-reward moments. very well maintained, props to the greenkeepers. also orly las, the small par 3 pitch and putt course is some game fun for under an hour and a good training for your short game, that can be played with just two or three clubs (but be sure to bring some extra balls as it’s pretty narrow and a slight mishit will eat your ball as it’s surrounded by thick bushes, woods and rough). some of the greens were not in best shape, but hey, i would be asking too much for a short course that is just a funny little add on. we stayed in one of the garden suites that were aesthetic, modern, spacious, practical, clean, bright and quiet with a view to the green of hole 16 right from your bed through the large windows. staff was friendly, service good, but there’s room for improvement, especially for the restaurant. the pros: - amazing 18 hole championship course by gary player, very good maintanance - super quiet and peaceful surrounding - fun little short course - nice club house - great accomodation in the garden suites - friendly staff - not too busy on the course the cons: - the breakfast is a bit frugal with not much options for vegetarians and almost no option for vegans - restaurant closes at 6 pm (7 pm on sundays or saturdays - can’t remember) - on tuesday the chairs were already ajar at not even 5 pm, which didn’t seem very inviting (but we still could order) - there’s permanently playing trashy plastic pop in the restaurant and on the terrace (something you just don’t want to listen to in this nice and quiet surrounding - especially not for breakfast) - there’s a bunch of home construction projects (some already finished) along the routing, which destroys the uniqueness of this wonderful golf course - some even sit on the course american style. the pros definitely outplay the cons - we're coming back! This is a very good restaurant where the food and wine are delicious, and the service is professional. The golf course, hotel, and cottages are a small wonder of the world! One of the best courses I have played. Very challenging and rewarding as well. Absolutely amazing experience. High quality course all around where you are basically playing all alone most of the course without neighboring holes. For a PGA course I could only wish for a bit faster greens but on the other hand it gave the possibility for longer approach plays. Great value, food and hospitality. Hospitality was second to none. Course was in magnificent condition. We stayed in the lodges which were ideal. Long journey from Berlin airport but we'll worth it. We will be back.
