A wonderful Park, Massive and fully open to go wherever you wish. The large grass area is great for a picnic or stroll. There is a couple entrances to this place one of them which i took has a nice wooded area to walk through to get the the big field and nature trail. I walked through the nature trail right to the back of Wigmore and you can have some great views of Luton airport runway and watch the planes landing and taking off. The back part is really wild and overgrown and is great to explore , i had a great time here exploring and looking at all the wild flowers and tress and bushes. A real wonderful place for me. Just lots of fields, nothing too exciting. A beautiful hour walking accross the field. It was rather soggy underfoot though. The sun and clouds were amazing. Had to take a different path several times as it was a bit flooded in places. Gorgeous unspoilt open within the town of Luton, right on the edge of rolling countryside. Much loved by dog walkers and just walkers! There's a children's playground and plenty of car space. No toilets. Nice place to take the dogs. Wigmore lane park, so we took the route on the left side of the through the trees and round the back (previously we walked alongside the gate overlooking the airport) My were we amazed by the beautiful views. There was lots of wild red plants and it was a view to be reckoned with! I could’ve sat there all day but with kids I think it was wise to trudge along. Lots of wildflowers growing here and blackberries. I would advise being careful when picking them as the stinging nettles bite 😩 We met some lovely friendly people and their dogs, also because the is near the airport we saw around 15 planes landing. Definitely worth paying a visit to get away from the hustle and bustle. The itself is great, there’s a lot of open & lovely scenery for walking: a lot of trees, greenery, airplanes. They have recently introduced a time limit for the carpark though (which is 3 hours) which was never there before & is a letdown as the is really huge, so if you’re looking to walk from one end to the other you really have to be time conscious now. There’s a very interactive playground for toddlers though, and they have recently replaced a huge climbing frame with a more older - but not teenage like before- children suitable. If you’re not into dogs a thing to keep in mind is that a LOT of people walk their dogs there & some of them leave their dogs poo behind (disgusting!) Lovely big open which is unique among parks in Luton due to the wildlife area. If you like to spot wildflowers, birds, insects or other wild creatures (I was really surprised to see a weasel), is probably the only public in Luton where you will. It gets quite a lot of big puddles if it has rained, so wellies help you explore all areas. There is a small car on site for up to 3hrs. Picnic benches and a fenced off area with playground equipment. Chilled area good skate children's play is a bit lacking Plenty of green but that's it, plus car park. Enjoy while it lasts as when the airport expands it will not look the same and the smell of airplane petrol will be stronger. Currently it has an old metal scate park, well old and unmaitained playground with an addition of another small one further down the field. Burnt down and demolished cafe that will be removed at some point and an abandoned pub that is refurbished into living quarters for... Well I honestly don't know or seen anyone ever going in or out of it. Good for a kick about with the kids Excelent place for a dog walk (while waiting for plane to arrive) Wonderful large and spacious park, for all lovers of close contact with nature. You can calm down and gain energy for another week at work 🥰 Escorted wildlife walk round park, very enjoyable. Not organised by Luton Council of course, they just want to destroy it for the airport expansion A very quiet place. Kids' playarea is not maintained well. Good car parking space, but it is limited to 3 hours, which is completely fine. Occupying around 70 acres of green with County Wildlife Site status it's a brilliant place to visit & explore. The County Wildlife Site is rich in flora & fauna & is probably Luton's best site for native orchid species. Nice with some free parking as well.
