We were here with #Bigfoot and #Littlefeet and they loved it. Although we were a bit unlucky with the weather, which was quite fresh compared to the day before, they were able to turn Easter eggs and make Easter candles. The entrance fee is ok and the staff are really nice. We booked the family tour in advance and that was a good decision because our guide made sure that the children in particular understood what Campus Galli is all about. There are places where people big and small realize that life wasn't always like it is today. And this is exactly what Campus Galli is all about. Around 50 people are helping to build a monastery based on the model of St. Gallen. Whether they will live to see it themselves is unknown. And yet they are passionate about their work, whether it is explaining the social circumstances of the 9th or 10th century or the various stations. Ultimately, you can see here what it means to create something with simple means, such as covering a roof or adding a wall to a hut. Great! We left enthusiastically after several hours, aware that our lives today are not a matter of course and that we would probably not have been able to cope in the past. Thanks to the team at Campus Galli for their dedication and passion in taking visitors of all ages back in time. We can only recommend this place from the bottom of our hearts! Awesome set up. Fascinating journey through time. The craftsmen and women were engaging and informative. Food was also good. Great day trip! Large free parking lot available. The site is spacious and well worth a visit—a living 9th-century construction site based on the Plan of Saint Gall. You’ll find craftsmen at work—blacksmiths, carpenters, weavers—ready to answer questions and show off their skills. You can even try food made with period techniques, adding to the authentic vibe. Seasonal workshops are also available if you want a more hands-on experience. A must-visit for history fans and curious minds Basically it's like Colonial Williamsburg from the U.S. if your familiar. Very pleasant and educational. Take bug spray, water and sunscreen. All the volunteers are really friendly and knowledgeable. A great place for a couple of hours. Really enjoyed wondering around and watching the people working. There is a map with information in English. Enjoyed the lentil and sausage soup and honey cake. Worth a visit. One of my most lasting impressions from Campus Galli is how very friendly and communicative all the volunteer workers were that I encountered there. They wear period costume and perform period tasks, but this is not some theater re-enactment where they try to pretend to be their own ancestor from 12 hundred years ago. If you show any interest in what they are doing, they will gladly talk to you and also let you get your hands dirty if you like. They have dared to embark on a massive task, but much has been achieved already and time is on their side, I think. You must taste the met wine, if you like that sort of drink. It‘s really REALLY good. Very interesting and impressive! The people working were very helpful and answered our questions well. We had a tour, and that was very interesting, and helpful! Definitely going to come back, to see their progress. Within a few years this was my second time here. What a brilliant idea and what a commited people working like they are in de Middle Ages. Absolutely fantastic and must go uf you love Forest and or History. One bummer was that even it was far in July not all the shops were open like last time I was there.
