Wow Not many tourists, nice and surroundings, beach in winter is full of seaweed /!\ SCAM /!\ The place is beautiful, but a few odd things leave you with the bitter taste of being scammed. First, you will have to pay 5€/car for the parking, which is rather dirty piece of land guarded by a random guy with a dog who is apparently the land owner (and of course, you have no choice but to park there and pay). Then, you will have to pay 3.5€/p to enter the reserve, which used to be free until 2022. Finally, a guy in a car outside the parking waits for tourist and tries to scam them on a regular basis. He waits for you to get out of the parking, makes you think you damaged his car then asks you money to settle this. Obviously you did nothing wrong and this guy is just trying to rip you off. Since he does that since 2019 (as reported on Trip advisor), one could legitimately thing that guy is covered by some authority... It was pleasant, was able to find easy parking in April, no fee. The flamingoes are light pink with red, then black tipped wings! Very special to see when they open their wings up! Some people are sunning on the beach as well. Caletta meravigliosa, sabbia fine e gialla, nessuno stabilimento e ottimo luogo per lo snorkeling Esperienza molto bella. Riserva ben tenuta nel percorso che abbiamo fatto, dall'entrata Vendicari alla spiaggia di Calamosche. Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di assistere alla visita guidata nell'ecomuseo sabato 12 ottobre ore 11.30, tenuta da un volontario estremamente preparato e che ci ha trasmesso il suo entusiasmo oltre che le sue conoscenze. It’s incredible to see how beautifully the old buildings are being restored. The beach is fantastic to swim in and the water is the clearest we’ve ever seen! Highly recommend a visit. It’s about a fifteen minute from the carpark to the beach, but it’s a flat easy walk. I would advise taking a sun umbrella if you plan to stay for a while as there is no shade on the sand. Surprisingly nice reservate to walk. I only walked to the Bizantain necropoli and building and the Tonnara. Nice and quiet and very clean from trash. If you want you can further and basically spend your whole day walking there.
