A real gem of a place, so pleased we ventured out of Cheddar to find it. owners and even friendlier locals. We were lucky to be there on a night with very talented people taking it in turns to play keyboard and guitar. Food was fabulous, the big portions caught us out so we had leftovers to take back. Big range of cider, many local and we did our best to try them all, with a few we hadn't seen before. A very dog establishment with lots of the furry friends to meet and greet. They are made very welcome, a dog lovers paradise. Quirky decor that sets it apart from other places. It all made for a fantastic evening. Nice and easy to find as just set back from the main road. Plenty of parking. with a decent enough menu and prices, but it was the bizarre and variable decor and atmosphere that made me want to give this funny little restaurant a five star review. Nowadays, many restaurants, pubs, cafes, bistros etc are going for a sleek, modern, clean look to forfill the customer expected experience but this ‘Cider barn’ has the most grotty, old fashioned, comfortable, grungy atmosphere made up from funky decorations such as tin signs, recycled furniture, funky wallpaper and carpets. It definitely captivates locals and those interested in cars and bikes, but also the younger generation that just fancy an upbeat, cheap place to meet and have vibes at. The pizzas were delicious and the even better. If your looking for something more conservative, sleek and ‘cute’ or ‘romantic’, I wouldnt recommend this, but if your looking for something truly independent and authentic with a home made atmosphere where you feel you can be yourself, come and give them a visit! I believe they do live events too, so perhaps visit them on one of those dates. Overall, easy to find, car park, toilets, seating inside and out, pool table, food and drink and service. What more can you want? Always a hospitable and welcoming environment, with a selection of drinks and simple meals. Some great acts play there as well Absolutely fantastic food and cider!! Black Jack's 👌 Handmade Pizzas 👌 Burger and chips 👌 Burgers were proper meaty burgers, no fast food or pub chain rubbish. All food and drinks loved by adults and kids alike. 2 pizzas and a portion of chips were more than enough for a family of 4 for a hearty lunch! Went back with a 9 pint bottle of Black Jack's to last us the rest of the holiday (more like a couple of nights 🤣). Prices are also very good. Wouldn't hesitate coming here again! Extremely service and very landlord/owner. Excellent food, would recommend if you're in Cheddar and want something more quirky than traditional pub grub. Great staff, superb atmosphere. Lovely place , great service with lovely food and drink. I loved my Rhubarb pizza and fries, will definitely be back. Fantastic place, owner is amazing and even gave us a lift home to the camper. Dog friendly, great ciders and beers 🍻 highly recommended 👌 Love this place 😊. It's friendly, down to earth, and laid back. The pub grub is great, the range of cider/beer is well priced, and the outdoor space is nice. Oh, and there's a pool table and regular live music. If you want to chat, people will chat, if you want to be left alone, they'll leave you alone. If you want bells and whistles, go somewhere else. But if you don't, it's perfect 🙂 Great food, lovely and live music! Absolutely would go again. Very staff! When the pub is busy believe it or not, the are also busy serving. I see comments on here saying the are rude and not welcoming. That's not true. Be mindful before you leave a review. I've attached the menu's so you can have a look. The food is fresh and delicious 😋 the food can take a while but it is all made fresh per order (which is worth the wait). Music is on Sundays at 5pm. Every musician is amazing and creates an amazing atmosphere. The pub is popular with the locals which means there are locals inside, but what do you expect from a pub? The locals are lovely and so are their dogs 🐕 everyone seems to respects each other. The food and drinks are cheap so what's to go wrong? I'm definitely recommending this place to my friends 😊 Great place, very quirky with very hospitable staff. Husband enjoyed tasting the different ciders. Called in here mid afternoon, it was uniquely decorated and looked a fun place, tried some of the cider, and took a 3ltr carry out with us. Would like to be there when the live is on, so maybe we will make another visit next time we're in cheddar. Just wanted to say what a fantastic place !!! We were staying at Cheddar Woods for the weekend and popped out to meet friends to raise a glass for my daughters 21st ... we all like so seemed like it was the place for us :) ..... Really cosy and quirky place .... warm fire ... the lushest dogs .... & regular's all made us feel welcome and our pet dog Eve loved it too .... Had fab pizza's and burgers - timed it wrong as had to leave just before live started! Will definitely return and 100% recommend ... wish we had a local like this ....
