Unmissable place near Sögel in the heart of the emsland region. This is a beautiful estate in Sogel. Full of walking trails and you can bring your dog. There are certain times of the year that they must be on lead (although I'm not sure how strict it is) The buildings are beautiful. We only made it into the Chapel but that was fabulous. Sogel doesn't come across as a big tourist destination, but this place is a little treasure. This place is nice to stroll around. Their is a beautiful little church, where the inside will delight. The cafe, well not sure if what we experienced in the day is normal, but we waited 35 min to get 2 drinks. The 2 wait staff seemed to be not trained properly and a result the service was very slow. Luckily the sun and view were there to distract us. Worth a visit if you are in Sögel. Lovely place & lots of history and great walk/cycle setting. It's an interesting place to see but quite hard if you only speak English (not that English must be provided everywhere!). To see the cental building and chapel you have to go on a tour (included in your ticket) but it's not in English and takes quite a while. We were 35 mins in the central building and there's not masses to see but obviously some interesting stories that the guide was telling but we couldn't understand. wonderful architecture The palace is cool, tour was a little hard to follow since the tour guide mumbled a lot and I'd like to think I'm decent at German but somehow I couldn't follow him. You get to view a lot inside. The most mindblowing bit are the gorgeous surrounding gardens around it. Hugely recommend to request to see the courtyard behind the monk's house. It's gorgeous, we were in there alone for a while.
