Lovely beach, the north end leading towards St Mary's lighthouse is very rocky but the south end has nice sand and is good for swimming. A wide promenade runs along the top of the beach. They've tried to accommodate all interests by designating the Northern part of the for dog walkers whilst the southern section of the is dog free. The slopes gently into the sea, I find high tide best for swimming as don't need to far and can get depth fairly quickly. A beautiful with golden sands and peaceful waves gently crashing against the shoreline. There are excellent views out to sea and towards St Mary's Lighthouse as seen in the photo. The council has vastly improved the prom. It's lovely to go for a stroll The day we were there was dry and sunny. If it's poor weather, there is little or no shelter. Lovely long beach. Clean. Great parking and good views. Very busy with dogs. The promenade area is good to also, it looks down on the beach. Great for the parkrun on Saturday and dipping my toe in the sea. Lots of dogs though so be prepared for that if you're not a fan of them! (There is a section during the summer that is dog free) Lovely sandy with life guards on duty. Easy access by the metro from Newcastle. Great place to take kids. Lots of takeaways at reasonable prices. Gift shops . Amazing views towards Tynemouth. Lots of wildlife, seals . Love it Long lovely sandy beach. But there were lots of dogs n seaweed. Will return again. A sunny dry day when we visited. This made for a great day. Long Beach, great walking area which looks down onto the beach. Not much shelter should you need it. Many dogs running free, a lot. Good views and a nice vibe. EXCELLENT DUDES!!!!!!! KJ Big with life guard in place. It's a nice walk. Lots of dogs off lead and even more people on push bikes. Whitley Bay is truly enchanting, although it can be a little tricky to work out when the tide comes in and when it goes out. When the tide is out, it reveals a fantastic expanse for walking. Walking along the long, wide sandy in the morning is such a refreshing experience; it's both calming and a wonderful way to appreciate nature. However, when the tide comes in, this vast seems to disappear in an instant, leaving you scrambling to find a dry patch of sand. It's amazing how the sea can recede so far and then rise again so dramatically - it's truly a miracle of nature. At low tide, the view of St Mary's Lighthouse is a real treat. That is, of course, when it's not being renovated! But whether you're gazing at the lighthouse or just enjoying the rhythm of the waves, Whitley Bay is a wonderful escape all year round. There's something wonderfully soothing about being by the sea, whatever the season. Nice & relax. I took a light at Valerie's tea room, & then went along to the beach. The sky was blue & there was a light wind whipping up the surf. The sound & smell of the sea, the relative calmness & warmth made a very pleasant afternoon. Hopefully to be enjoyed again before the winter. The at Whitley Bay is a really nice beach, we had a lovely along the sea front ending up at side hut for hot chocolate and to watch the waves. Beautiful beach, very clean and full of fun. Amazing day out with family and friends Plenty of parking. Quite spread out but that gave it a not overcrowded feel. Beautiful to visit friendly people and lots of cafes craft beer bars by spanish city 😉 My favourite Absolutely loved my visit to Whitley Bay Beach! The views were stunning, especially with the lighthouse in the distance—it made for some beautiful photos. The itself was clean, spacious, and great for a relaxing walk. Plenty of families, dog walkers, and even surfers enjoying the day. There are also nice cafes and restaurants nearby if you’re looking for a bite to eat or just a coffee with a view. The promenade is well-maintained and great for a leisurely stroll. Overall, a lovely spot whether you’re looking for peace and quiet or some seaside fun. Will definitely be coming back! Went there a few days ago , I had a blast. The nature , everything clean! Plus they had pretty clean toilets. Me and my family had a fun time there , admiring the sea and the greens. 10000000% recommend coming here🤭💗 Beautiful sea side city We visited for The Festival of the Sea at Spanish city (once a year street food festival) but we love to come here regularly too. Our usual trip is to park at Spanish City (free parking after 6pm) and the whole length of the promenade up to St.Mary’s light house where we like to sit on the cliff and watch the water. It’s a lovely, varied walk, which also goes through a nature reserve. Thoroughly recommend. Also, check out their annual bonfire night fireworks, which are spectacular!
