We went on Sunday without reservation and no problem to find the seat. Would recommend. Fantastic traditional local village pub and eatery, we went for Sunday lunch and definitely weren't disappointed the food was served quickly and it was absolutely delicious. The were very attentive, we managed to get a outside in the courtyard to enjoy our meals in the sunshine, well worth a visit. A lunch on a Saturday afternoon. My companions meals were plentiful and tasty, especially the fries. Mine tasted but was a very small serving. Service was a bit slow, but I think they were understaffed, and this is probably usual. We only stopped for a drink as we planned to eat further north. Such a welcoming pub and the was definitely tempting. It's a lovely placed, well kept, clean and comfortable. Loved it 😊 We stopped here for dinner on our way home. It was quite busy when we arrived, but we managed to get a table. If you’re seated in the bar area, you place your order directly at the bar—just let them know your number. In the dining area, it’s regular service. I had the king prawn linguine, which was absolutely delicious with generous portions of prawns. My husband had the gammon steak, and it was a massive as well. We both really enjoyed our meals and were so full we skipped dessert! We visited on a Tuesday, and they had a quiz night starting at 8 PM. The place got even busier as it got closer to that time. Went on a Sunday, got tempura prawns, lamb roast and sticky Toffee pudding. All GF, and a sized Non Gluten available too. Will definitely be going back again soon. Boxing Day lunch organized by a relative. The of year meant were probably I. Short supply and possibly being paid over the normal rate. There was no service for drinks and food orders took a long while. Unfortunately also our pre ordered food items had not been reserved even though we made them in advance as required on the website. (head office was blamed) This meant 4 people had to forego our preferred choices. That said, the one out of 5 who got their steak choice said it was good. The house special fish and chips was also very and a favorite; it was a sizable indeed. Of note, the drinks were very (as expected in a local pub!) and well priced compared to that expected down south. Desert choices of sticky date pudding for those who could spare the space and calories was a big hit with one saying it was the best they ever had. They do very 'roast of the day' stotties with proper gravy and a small side of very fries, and draft cider ofcourse. Soup for the first course was absolutely amazing, but don't see the need for a butter with it. Main was a disappointment. Beef was done to perfection. However only one potato nicely carved into a cylindrical shape so it can be given a fancy name. Advertised as being served with bacon lardons and wild mushrooms, well the bacon amounted to two little scraps and the mushrooms sliced so thin it virtually invisible. All served on a bed of greasy vegetation. If you are going charge thirty quid for a meal put some food on the plate Love the food, are great, ambience is good. I Really like it here. But part of this the company, I go here with my family but always food. I never come away disappointed, usually wishing I'd not succumbed to the amazing sticky toffee pud. Went here on a trip up to Berwick-upon-Tweed, perfect location as is located just off the A1, the village is a little place with a quaint charm. The car-parking is ample and the outside of the building looks like a traditional pub. We sat at the entrance, the atmosphere is okay, however there are fruit machines and a dart board, so if your looking for a family meal not the type of place for that at the entrance, but I will say we moved and there was a more dining style area. When we arrived the was a little dirty, but the noticed straight away and immediately cleared the table, although we did have to ask for the to be wiped of spilt gravy and salt. Overall, the were very friendly, and accommodating. The beer choices were pretty limited, but had some locals on and it was served chilled in a clean glass. Ordered food off the small plates menu, the “Black Pudding Croquettes with Peppercorn Sauce” sounded nice. It was £10, so was expecting a decent size portion, unfortunately it was only two small spherical croquettes, and I believe packet sauce. Was expecting a little more due to the cost, the croquettes were and crisp, if not a little mushy on the inside. Overall a pretty decent place, if not a little costly for the size. I am willing to pay for either size or quality, and unfortunately neither of these was met. If I went again would definitely try something from the main menu, as the food did look good, probably just ordered the wrong food. I hadn’t visited the Ridley Arms for quite some time, but on our way back, we decided to stop in for a late Sunday meal. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. There was no cutlery on our table, and we had to wait a considerable amount of after our meals arrived to be provided with some. I also requested a water bowl for the dog, but this was never brought over. The food itself was of poor quality; it was cold and undercooked, with the vegetables being almost raw. My partner ordered the ham, which was excessively fatty and left him unable to finish his meal. To add to this, the did not return to clear our plates, leaving us feeling quite dissatisfied.
