This is our second visit to Steinvikholm Castle, and we noticed they have started selling tickets for entrance. Unfortunately, our experience this time wasn’t as enjoyable. The staff member assisting us made us feel a bit uncomfortable by frequently telling us not to step in certain areas. We didn’t enjoy our trip as much this time, which was disappointing. The grounds are open all year and there is a path you can take, part of it ‘unofficial’, all the way round the fort. Other than that, I’m not kidding, you could be in and out in 15mins. I think the local kommune should pay for its upkeep and make it free to the public. The road driving down towards the is only skinny enough for one car so you need to stop at wait zones. Fine if it’s quiet but stressful if not, especially with huge campervans during summer. All in all, unless you’re gonna have a picnic and a swim I’d say it’s not worth the effort. Wir waren grad eben vor Ort, leider ist der Steg abgebaut, man kommt also nicht zum Schloß rüber.
