Tl;dr: Nice hotel on top of a mountain; good views of the Bastei; a good breakfast; clean, quiet rooms; good prices. Fine for cyclists if you bring your bike around the mountain instead of up the footpath - though you may prefer to leave your bike in Rathen. We decided to go on vacation super last minute, and the Bergpension Laasen Perle was literally the only place I could find - but I'm sure glad I did! It's truly a gorgeous inn halfway up a mountain. Really, I mean that. There is a footpath (stairs) at the top of oberrathen, or you can go around the mountain and up the road if you bring your bike. The owners were very accommodating of our bicycles, and we were able to secure them near our room. However, after our second day out, we realized that we could leave the bikes in the village of Rathen and not haul them up and down the mountain (which was much better for me, a casual, hill-hating rider) The room was a nice size and very clean. The mattress was comfortable and the room was quiet. The property was really lovely - it's tucked away behind the Laasenhof buildings, but you forget they are there. The breakfast was a nice continental/typisch deutsch selection of everything from marmalde to various wursts and eggs. If I have any complaints it's that Wifi is not available in the room (makes it hard to watch Netflix and fall asleep), but the grounds and the location make up for it. The village of Rathen is only a five minute walk away, and from there you can take train to Dresden, go biking, or hike. Hiking is also available directly behind the pension. Die einzige konstruktive Kritik die wir anmerken würden wäre, das man als Gast flexibel entscheiden kann, ob man Frühstück haben möchte oder nicht. Eine kleine gemütlich heimische Pension mit liebevollen Personal, einfach zum wohlfühlen. Das Zimmer und Bad waren sehr sauber. Das Bett hatte eine super Matratze, wir haben prima geschlafen, ohne Rückenschmerzen. Die Treppe durch das Wäldchen zur Pension war am Anfang eine Herausforderung aber es machte uns jedesmal mehr Spaß. Frühstück war sehr reichlich und es gab eine große Auswahl von allem was das Herz begehrt. Kurz, wir empfehlen es gern weiter.
