I recommend visitting at the weekend because the old library and the Chinese Room is open for visitors only on Sat and Sun (since these rooms belong to the Agricultural Faculty), absolutely worth it! Shame there is no real furniture or pictures of how it was once furnished. The visit covers quite a lot, so give yourself time. The Botannic Gardens are quite small. Better than overpriced Naples museum however for what we have paid we didn't go to the parts we wanted to see so it is a bit tricky for the ticket price and the parts you can see for the ticket you buy. It's not a hand-holdy museum experience. But there is amazing stuff there. The Museo di Ercolano is truly fascinating; it presented me with really interesting material to consider the ethics of artifact conservation. Ticket includes the botanical garden. Fantastic place. Ticket office is a bit hidden to the right of the large gates that look towards the sea (with the statue of Marcus Nonius Balbus on the horse). Much better experience than the archeological museum which is tacky and a total rip off. Really enjoyed visiting this Palace, inside the ceilings are all unique, English signage is available and there are great views. My family and I also really enjoyed the botanical garden, lots of diverse plants and palm trees with signage. There was a washroom which was also handy. The internet was spotting so the guided tour didn’t work inside. A guided tour of both the palace and the gardens would have enhanced my visit but was not offered on the Sunday in June when I visited. It might be worth booking an English tour spot in advance.
