We had our family Christmas 2023 dinner here recently. It was my first time visiting this restaurant. The overall atmosphere is nice, the interior feels cozy and somewhat spacious. I ordered “De Zoete” (means: The Sweet One) spareribs for my main dish. For my 2nd serving I had the BBQ Smoked spareribs. The ribs were tasty, although the sweet ribs were maybe a bit on the dry side… It would be to have some actual gravy drizzled over them, or serve it on the side at least (just a tip). The personnel was proactive and were really on top of things!! They were very helpful and attentive. Keep on doing what you are doing!! Nicely decorated bistro with an extensive menu. Eventhough it was pretty crowded, it did not take extra time to bring our dinner. Reasonably priced. Would go there again. Great food, very staff... That's how you imagine a good mix of bar and restaurant. Keep it up!!!! Really restaurant, cosy atmosphere, and a beautiful wooden interior. But there were only two vegetarian mains. I like the decor, the waitress was very and attentive, with a friendly atmosphere and was in good company. We all opted for the 6 course set menu. The food was okay at best and up to the fourth dish it was flowing nicely. We finished our 4th dish around 7:30 - the next two dishes took almost 2 hours to serve. The desert was very disappointing - 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream a blob of squirty cream topped with chocolate sauce. I'm writing this review next morning and 2 out of 4 of our party have a bad gut. I have been here a few times and really enjoyed my experiences so maybe this was just an "off" day. Like the waitress, didn't feel rushed, it was and easy, with a good interval so you didn't have to wait (feeling like) hours between dishes, warm bread with garlic sauce, lamb rack, and spareribs, the smokey flavoured was the best, meat was coming of the bone easily, the lamb was cooked without asking rare, medium, well done, we got it to the rare side, that was less cause we are into medium/well done. Home made dessert was too. I love this place. Food is good, the staff has humor. And the menu has all one would expect, with cool names like: the magic spell or treats from his majesty. The place is usually full, so making a reservation is definitely advised. Sunday after King’s day was quiet and we were lucky to have a table overlooking the river as the sun was setting. The starter we shared; Dutch shrimp, ham and eel with pickled cucumber, is highly recommended. We then had ribs, 3 flavours and perfectly cooked. We had a lovely chat with the chef and would recommend this restaurant.
