It's an amazing Roman amphitheater. Walking was quite an experience. The state of conservation is excellent. I missed seeing a Spartacus statue, picture, or painting on site, though. The bookstore selection was not good. This is the 2nd largest roman amphitheatre. What makes this a great place to is that you can access the part of the amphitheatre. It's a special experience to walk under the arena. The amphitheatre is also reasonably intact, and you get an impression of the size and how tall it was. Next to Anfiteatro Campano is about 20% of the foundation of an older amphitheatre, which is where spartacus was a gladiator. There is also a small gladiator museum. Fortunately, we knew ahead of time that much of the inside of the area would not be accessible due to restoration. That curbed our disappointment. Still, seeing this ancient building was magnificent. Even better, on this hot, balmy day, touring the area had the added benefit of being nice and cool. The architecture above and below ground is truly impressive. The broken pieces of columns, the detailed designs. It is difficult to imagine just how spectacular this place was brand new. If there was any reason to have a time machine, going back to see it in the 1st century would be one. Really interesting place to visit. There's little on the side and toilets 🚻 Enjoyed walking around and this historic place. This place is well worth a or a detour as we did. It does not seem to be anywhere as well known as the Colossium in Rome despite being only 2nd in size to it. Most of the time we were the only ones around. You are free to rome around the site at your leisure which is wonderful. Walking through the tunnels underneath is very atmospheric and also a cooling break from the sun. Gives you an impression of size,. A reasonable amount of the structure remains. Find the entrance to the part below the arena floor. It is definitely worth to place. Much Cheaper than that of Colliseum in Rome, free of crowd and you see quite as much and even more underneath the structure. Walking those corridors.... undescribeble feelings. I felt that with my own body the suffering and cruelty and terribility of the place as well as the greatnest of it. So, definitely MUST do it place. More over for the price of 2,50 euros you are getting a possibility of visiting an archeological wich is 10 min walk away and lovely to see. Great deal ! Very accessible. Not a lot of restrictions on where you can go. Very easy parking. Nice and quiet Arena. Good access. You can walk around it..through it and the catacombs. It is very beautiful and above all wheelchair accessible. But not everything is accessible with the wheelchair like the underground. V.Good place... few tourists... just plan ahead as a few trains depart from the regional train station. Very underrated place to visit. Only 2€ per ticket, you get to a small and go into the arena. Not just around the arena, but underneath where all the slaves and animals would have been kept. Every time I've been here it's been almost completely empty. Very different from the busy colliseum in Rome. We had the ruins to ourselves during our to this beautiful amphitheater. It's just a shame that there are no descriptive signs (in English or Italian) right inside the ruins. Fascinating, especially the catacombs underneath the amphitheatre. A great little on site included in the ticket. A larger in the town also included but we ran out of time. Not bad to see a smaller version of the Colloseum, only 2.50 euro to see where Spartacus and Crixus did their thing. Lots of it is blocked off, but you can see all of the portion. Lots off food options in the vicinity.
