We walked by on BBQ day - both meats ordered were terrible. Advertised as AAAAAA cuts, the ribs were tough and burnt. Ribs need to be slow cooked. Salad was out of a bag. Fries were soggy. Service was not particularly helpful. In fairness, this was partially due to our lack of French but they were clearly unhappy about this. You may fare better if you speak more than our limited French. Told after we ate that they don't take credit card - cash only. We had a fantastic visit here a few months ago. It was incredibly hot - the bartender immediately offered us water at the bar and then we took our seat. A few hours went by of me and mum drinking and chatting on the lovely terrace and we then went for a walk. We then came back, and couldn't get back to the train station due to taxis. The manager of the bar ended up giving us a lift to the station, I can't thank you guys enough! Fantastic hospitality, you went above and beyond. We're excited to hopefully come back soon to visit. Highly recommend. Absolute Disaster! We were a family of 10 people visiting Châteauneuf-du-Pape and wanted to take a break and an ice cream at this cafe. The lady took out order, I speak an understandable French and then also brought us the first 4 ice creams. After about 20 minutes we got 2 coffees also…. But then nothing more. We asked about the rest and my sister went in a complained to the owner behind the bar, but in English. That resulted in the waiter coming out and saying that she did not understand English and we would not get the rest of our order… we could leave?! That is probably the worst service I have ever had! The fact that she was the only one at work on a busy day and clearly had no system of her orders and slots track of everything, resulting in angry customers, but it also looked like she got into trouble from her manager - simply shows no prioritisation of the customers from the leadership! I recommend everyone to go somewhere else. We stayed in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and visited this cafe a few times for coffees and drinks. The staff are very friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed and the coffee is good. Our dogs were welcome outside. They only accept cash but there is an ATM next door. On the plus side, the wine I got was excellent. On the downside the waiter could not tell me a single thing about the wine, and they were not serving any food despite there being a sign outside saying they served snacks all day. We went there with our family of 10. The owner was super nice, and very friendly. Our service was excellent. This is a place to visit if you are in the area. I would give it it 12 out of 10.
