Beautiful walk along the and amongst the fields of North Essex Wet and flowing Great fishing at these three lakes with a great bailiff neil Copeland clean toilets secured parking great fishing Ok Great for a paddle or wild swim. It's a nice walk. Beautiful place for a lovely walk. Stunning river. Lovely tea rooms selling vast array of homemade cakes. Worth a visit anyday. Close to where we live and a great place to ramble on a sunny afternoon. We sometimes take a sketch pad and go down and sit by the boats. Beautiful scenery and wildlife. Love coming here for a swim in summer , lovely countryside and the water seems clean but you never know. The Chelmer is ideal for for a stroll. It can be a bit muddy at times. Very peaceful Nice The Chelmer has existed for over 100 years, torn from the rock during the ice age when dinosaurs roamed the A414. It filled with water and supermarket trolleys after the big rains of April 1889 and has since grown longer than the Amazon, even its new warehouse in Scunthorpe. It has a famous ebb every September when the moon passes within 200 metres of Springfield causing a tidal wave some 342mm tall, powerful enough to suck passing ships from Harwich Harbour and leave them high and dry in Kentucky burgers car park, a fact that KC accept providing drive through orders are obeyed. If it were not for the Chelmer, Chelmsford would never been given city status by the Romans. Worth a visit! Every single county/town would be delighted to have a for their citizens to walk by, except Chelmsford and Essex, the paths along the Chelmer are not maintained at all and after a bit of rain look like a herd of cattle passed by. Disgraceful. Excellent paddle you can also walk along the bank. Lot of different points along the to put in some you have to pay for parking and others the parking isn't the best.
