Thoresby Hall Hotel Spa

Ollerton, United Kingdom Spa

Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. Excellent place for a short break. Good entertainment through the day. Staff are brilliant if a bit thin on the ground. Over 40 minutes to bring our drinks order. Our group of 12 had a fantastic three night break. We were greeted at the main gate with our keys and able to go straight to them. The rooms were comfortable, the food very good and the evening entertainment also very good. The staff were all helpful and friendly. The Hall is a beautiful place to explore. We couldn't fault our stay and will definitely return next year. Booked a spa, they had no record of the booking. They let us in but then came to us, whilst swimming, to say that spa days could not be booked on a Saturday! Spa it is NOT it is a swimming pool with jacuzzi at the end and access to a sauna and steam room. The spa closed in 2019!! We booked afternoon tea for 1.30pm separately, no record of booking apparently....they 'fitted us in' at 12noon instead, an hour before the 'spa' session ended. When we sat for afternoon tea they found our booking! Not the best afternoon tea either. All in all a really bad experience! Afternoon tea here with a friend, bought with a voucher. A really nice place, fabulous food - chef catered to my dietary requirements exactly. Staff brilliant - friendly, nice and very welcoming. A great afternoon had. Recommended! Just ensure you park in their car park (the hotel one), and not the Thoresby one next door, which charges £3 card payment - we didn't realise this, but it wasn't a problem. Friendly staff and the rooms were very clean. It had great facilities and lovely food. Really helpfull friendly staff in all departments. Excellent food and varied themed menu each day. For a midday snack visit the courtyard cafe on site. Activities are a little stunted as it has no large dedicated games unlike Gunton Hall . All the usual activities on offer as per the website. Adults only but be aware if you are not capable of walking. We had a 400yd walk from our to dining ,each way. Our was one of the furthest I think so when booking check with the hotel to get closer. It wasn't a problem for us but be aware if you have mobility issues. There is a lift which will shorten it a little bit., we were on the 2nd floor and walked it for the excercise. The evening entertainment was as good as you could expect for such a venue. All in all our 3rd Warners long weekend was most enjoyable. Being christmas time the decorations were stunning creating the right atmosphere. We shall be trying a new location next year. We’ve had a couple of short stays at Thoresby Hall recently. We stayed in historic rooms both times, and loved the accommodation - large rooms with included soft drinks, water and snacks, together with the usual tea and coffee hospitality tray. There was an iron and ironing board, a fridge with proper milk (not those horrible little milk capsules), and even a large fan (which we didn’t need in January!). Food in the buffet dining was great - plenty of choice, and as much as you wanted. The breakfasts were especially good, including such extra choices as eggs Benedict, eggs royale and kippers. We ate in the Blue one evening, this is included in the holiday price and is an a la carte restaurant. Daytime, and evening entertainment is included together with indoor and outdoor sporting activities. Highly recommended!! We went for afternoon tea. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The surroundings are fabulous and the grounds are definitely worth a walk around. We enjoyed our visit and would definitely go again.
