His hands were filthy – not reassuring after preparing the food. The building and grounds are beautiful – this place could be amazing. But right now, there’s no care, no standards, and clearly no management. We emailed beforehand to give them a chance to respond, but got no reply. Avoid. One of the staff members is a carpenter, making it his duty to maintain the intricate workmanship lost in most modern hotels. When I forget items in my room they rang straight away and kept it safe until my return, making this a safe environment for all. I came back to stay twice (4 days each time) simply because of the staff. Gym was well equipped open only 3pm till 8pm. The building and dining room alone make you feel like you've been transported through time! It's very reasonably priced for the area, but look out for deals too.
