We stayed in the floating lodge. It was absolutely lovely. The location was quiet save for the occasional train, the wildlife was abundant (robins, squirrels, etc). The hot tub is absolutely great and has the best view of the lake. Please give the floating a try if you're considering staying at Fairwood, I had the best time. Had a brilliant here. Loved the lodge, even though we did not have great weather for 2 of our 3 days. park area for the kids and very chilled which was what we were after. Great for short commute to Long leat also. Great soft play for the kids too. We went in as a day pass. A bit basic but the kids had a day! Would be good if the food options were a bit more healthy. A sandwich? Ciabatta? Nothing too fancy. But the play area was great also with the bouncy castle was an added bonus! Had an amazing staying in the floating with my girlfriend. Enjoyed it so much we booked to come again before our trip had even finished. Emma is lovely, and so are the cafe staff. As an angler, the fishing was brilliant, the lake was brilliant. The location is beautiful and so tranquil it has been the perfect place for some R&R from our city lives. The staff were and could not have been more accommodating. They left me a beautiful spread of a personalised card, Prosecco biscuits and brownies which were wonderful. The rooms were although beds were a little uncomfortable but that is the only thing we can fault. The hot tub was the icing on the cake and really made our trip. Everything was beautifully clean. The breakfast sandwiches have been thoroughly enjoyed which we purchased from the beautiful onsite cafe. We will 100% be returning for another break away. We stayed at Fairwood Lakes last weekend for a girls weekend and had a time. We arrived a bit late, but the host was friendly and helpful over the phone, making check-in super easy. We stayed in the container with a hot tub, which was spotless, cosy, and the perfect base for exploring the area – including Centre Parcs spa, Frome, and Bath. Our evening was spent relaxing in the hot tub and enjoying the fire pit in such a peaceful, scenic setting. It was the ideal escape, and we all left feeling recharged. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing retreat. Fantastic getaway we booked a last minute long weekend getaway with our two special needs boys and pooch. Luckily my uncle lives locally to look after Sammy our dog while we visited Longleat. For the children absolutely no complaints the facilities, soft play, cafe etc all fantastic. Hospitality were amazing in providing a travel cot. I will say if you have a dog they are very limited as no enclosed gardens and not allowed in any of the children’s play areas (probably because irresponsible owners before hand didn’t clean up after them) apart from a patio. So I was stuck at the while hubby took our boys for fun. Smoking rule is a bit odd you can have a blazing fire pit right outside the but I had to go to the car each I wanted a cigarette. Completely understand no smoking inside as that’s the norm but could be a bit more lenient outside. The woodland (a converted storage container) was immaculate and well set out including fans which were definitely needed and appreciated as it did get stuffy in hot weather. They could do with a few more small windows because if you did have to leave your dog unattended they would cook as if in a car. Also the window provided in the children’s room was large and at waist height so weren’t comfortable leaving it open for safeguarding issues. We couldn’t open the big doors because our dog had to be on a lead at all times (again probably irresponsible owners or untrained dogs ruining it for others) I will say the only misleading part was how secluded it’s advertised as. While enjoying the decking, hot tub and fire pit you are all in each others sight and it didn’t feel as secluded as made out. All in all absolutely worth the price, clean, comfortable and great location for a lot of extra activities apart from those on sight. The (Barnacle) was and super cozy, and the hot tub was perfect for relaxing. The location was so peaceful, with only the sound of a train passing every now and again. We even saw deer in the field next to our cabin, which was a touch. They had also decorated the with a table runner, balloons, and a bottle of prosecco, which was such a thoughtful touch for the occasion. We also had the chance to visit Frome and check out the markets there, which were a great experience. We went to one of the local farm shops recommended in the handbook they provide and spent a day in Bath, exploring the beautiful city. It was the perfect balance of relaxation and sightseeing! We did run into a couple of small issues, though. The oven and hobs weren’t working properly, something to do with the igniter. Maintenance came over quickly and worked out a trick to get them going. It would have been better if they worked as intended, but I was still able to make meals, so it was manageable. On the last night, we had a little surprise visitor in the form of a tiny (and very cute) mouse. We're not the type to panic over things like this, and we understand that being in a quiet location like this can sometimes lead to such occurrences. We made sure to notify reception when we were leaving. A month before our visit, there was a hiccup with the booking, as it was cancelled due to an issue with my payment not showing on their system. I believe this was just an error on booking.com, so it wasn’t a major problem and was resolved super quickly. Despite these small issues, I wouldn’t say it took away from our here. We still had a time, and I would stay here again! We spent 2 nights here this week. It was and peaceful. The was perfect. A cheeky little get away to unwind with my daughter, my cousin and my 10 month old puppy. The staff were so and made us feel so relaxed and welcome.
