Beautiful old 30 minutes south of Plovdiv. It was quiet, plenty of parking, small restaurant across the street. We saw a horse mounted shepherd with a large flock of sheep and goat’s across the street. The was really worth the visit especially the old medieval church. All very nicely restored. Free parking on site. No entry fee. A beautiful and newly-renovated near Plovdiv. It is known as the residence of the Plovdiv archbishop. You will find two churches - the "lower" one is several centuries old and surrounded by high walls. The "upper" church is the new one and situated right next to the living quarters. The gets busy on public holidays, especially when coupled with nice weather. If you decide to hike from the nearby village of Kuklen, keep in mind that the road is steep. Should you hungry and thirsty, there is a small bistro right across the road from the monastery. Good place to visit for 1 hour. The road might be a bit tight for two cars to pass. Good places around for a barbecue. Stunning location - hidden in nature with a historical value!Beautiful place in the mountains, if you're looking for a place to explore, a picnic in nature in the surrounding areas or just a beautiful day out hiking!Highly recommend! Beautiful monastery! Such a pleasant place to wonder around. The nature surrounding the is beyond words; the mountains are within a view with flowers all around! The monetary is well maintained! Great place and energy! Exhausted place with interesting energy 🔔for sure There is long history and spectacular things. It is on the top of hill that’s why whether is different than Kuklen and Plovdiv 🤷🏼♀️ Small but very beautiful and well-maintained women's on the north slope of the Rhodope mts. We visited on a Thursday and there were few people there. Two churches to visit. Find the sister and she will open the church store. Views to the north can be spectacular. Recommended. The and property are well-maintained and pretty. Unfortunately, the nun who was in the church to interact with visitors was quite unpleasant and in the end downright rude. Her attitude was dismissive and unwelcoming and she wouldn't answer a simple question. Apparently, this place is just for show and there is no real spirituality or kindness there, at least not judging by the interaction I had. I wouldn't go back. An unpleasant impression of a woman who looks like an abbess. Lack of spirituality and love for people and animals. They keep beautiful birds very crowded in a small cage - cruel. But it seems to me that this is typical of Bulgarian monasteries.
