This is a good nature reserve and it’s a nice and quiet to stroll around and I really liked the where observation tower was but unfortunately the tower isn’t there anymore and another thing is the toilets was shut yesterday What a beautiful little walk, its not a very long but the nice makes up for it and the kids love finding the little wood carvings that are dotted around. It's ideal for having a little pic nic on a summers day and it's good spotting all the different wildlife including the fabulous dragon flies. Peaceful meandering wide paths with benches. Can be muddy in places including car park. Lovely place to go for a nice quiet walk. Good for kids to get close to nature and see wildlife 2 minutes away from an urban area. Parking is free and toilets are available in the visitor centre. There are a couple of hides to watch birds from too. A lovely little nature reserve with a circular walking route of about a mile. A couple of bird hides with varied species. Sculpture trail. Woodland and moss. There is free parking, a visitors centre with toilets and piknick tables, benches and grassy areas. Suitable for prams and possibly wheelchairs as some of the path is tarmac and some is gravel. Good for dog walking on a lead. Very popular place, had a lovely around here today with my daughters and the dogs, we've not been here for years and it's right on our doorstep. Used to bring the children when they were small, there were lots of families and dog walkers as was a lovely autumn day, albeit a little bit muddy. There is a car park which is free, (which makes a change ) There are hideaways where you can birdwatch from and a number of carved sculptures. Wont leave it so long till my next visit . There's a couple of hides, from one you can see lots of birds and squirrels, the other one is too overgrown to see anything but it does say its a protected for nature. There are many carvings dotted around for you to find. Plenty of benches and picnic tables too. Lovely woodland with loads of open spaces and picnic tables aplenty. Some fairly unique features like the sculptures dotted around and a kind of treasure hunt map for young children to find some of the weirder of these (called boggarts). Some parts are forest trails and others open out onto the nearby marshland. Very easy terrain, suitable for kids capable of walking half a mile to a mile depending on the track. One of the attractions, the woodland hide had burnt down, but everything else is as described. Easy to get to as well, it is less than 5 minutes from the M62. Very well suited to a short (hour or so) for adults, an afternoon trip for a young family or a pleasant place for a picnic. Parking is on site and is free. Nice place for walk. Trail is good for walking with children. Great place to visit with family and even take your dogs there Ok Gorgeous with a pram friendly path. Plenty of benches and hides. Good to in the rain Really nice nature reserve. Visited on a moody November day, but still enjoyed seeing a lot of greenery like different kind of moss and the colours of the trees. Mini-marsh was the highlight for me. Would be amazing to see it with the rhododendrons in bloom. Don’t go at this time of year, very underwhelming, no wildlife (saw one bird flying away my whole trip) dead and cut trees left, right and centre !! seemed like it would long and beautiful… think again. Took me half an hour to round and I sat down for atleast 10 minutes. A lot of areas taped off.
