When we eventually asked about it - transpired there had been a mix up with a big party’s orders. very apologetic, and otherwise very and efficient. Other courses were served timeously, and were tasty. We had not been here for years, however popped in for lunch. The place has been refurbished and it looks great. My partner and I had a roast beef dinner and maybe only a third of the meat was edible. The rest pure gristle. The veg and rosties dry and stale. The cauliflower cheese was good though. The gravy comes in a little pot. Barely enough in there to cover the veg and completely flavourless. The extra pig in blanket was so cold I spat it out thinking it wasn’t cooked. Genuinely the worst pub meal we've had. We won’t be back. I spent a few evenings here for drinks when I was visiting the area for work. Lovely from and atmosphere in the public bar especially on a Tuesday night when they have crazy pool. Sadly, I asked about getting food at 8.50pm, but they told me the kitchen was shut. Website shows food served until 9pm, which was disappointing. Our first time for lunch and what a pleasant surprise. from very welcoming and a fabulous range of freshly cooked items. The were attentive, flexible, and accommodating. The menu was huge and had a lot of good options. Terry, Niamh and Ian went above and beyond to make our experience great. I had already completed a pre order so the meals were all served promptly even though everyone was chatting. My young grandaughter had changed her mind about her order but were and accommodated her new request. We were given a lovely table which was just outwith the main lounge, this gave the impression of a private table. We all enjoyed our meal and had a night.
