Great place for a picnic with a great spot to whale watch. lots of to keep you company. Lovely spot for a picknick with running water and grilling. Nice and lots of places for Parking. Charming spot with plenty of seating for families. The highlight? Tons of friendly cats! Beautiful make it even better. Beautiful and plenty of great parking nearby make this spot very convenient. There are also public toilets available and picnic spots with BBQs. As a bonus, you’ll likely spot some friendly local kitties. Free viewpoint, one of the many in Sao Miguel. It is very well maintained, with free parking spots, picnic tables and free toilets. Of course, the is magical. The best Miradouro, in my opinion. The birds and bees are abundant, as they enjoy the beautiful trees and flowers along with you. There are numerous spots, some hidden and alone, for you to cook food on built-in grills with nice stone tables and benches. Words to not describe the and scenery. The weather this time of year is very comfortable at 20C/68F, with a mild breeze that brings amazing scents of the flowers to your nose. Parking is plenty, with nice visible markers. Do not miss visiting while you are in Sao Miguel. Stunning point with restrooms. There are three restrooms but only one was unlocked, it was dirty. However the area around the restrooms looks like a fairy land, with stone picnic tables and beautiful trees. I loved to see the living in the area, but sad to see them quite damaged by living in the wild. In any case, this viewpoint is 100% worth the stop and a little bit of exploration, even on a cloudy day! This was by far our favorite viewpoint in all of Azores. It was absolutely stunning! We were really lucky with the weather so we had amazing views. The parking is right by the point and just a minute walk to the first lookout. There is enough parking for quite a few cars (we went end of July) There are also a few picnic areas to enjoy and have a break. Bathroom are also available on site. Define heaven in your eyes just pick the right day to maximize the of the sunrise and coast line. But will worth waking up to see why this island is so spectacular! Breathtaking beauty. I didn't walk down to any of the trails but they look well maintained. I enjoyed walking through the gardens of captivating flowers and trees. So so peaceful and the of the Atlantic from the east side of the island are just amazing!! Amazing place, beautiful and many lovely, friendly cats. [Bring Cat Food& Anti-inflammatory medicine if you can] We visited this place last Sunday and were struck not only by the beautiful but also by the presence of many stray living around. One of them is in visible pain due to severe stomatitis (mouth inflammation). Because of this condition, the cat is unable to groom itself or eat dry food (even though someone had kindly placed some kibble nearby). Eating dry food with stomatitis is very painful. The cat (not the one in the pic) is very skinny and unable to clean the red dirt off its fur like other healthy cats. So if you are planning to visit and have the means, please consider bringing 1) wet cat food, 2) basic anti-inflammatory medication for cats, 3) clean food and water bowls or container. It’s been 3days since our visit, and I am deeply worried about the cat’s condition. Unfortunately we couldn’t do much on that day, as we did not expect to encounter a sick cat, and had to leave that evening to catch a flight. So I would like to try to ask for help from here:) thank you in advance for any kindness you can bring! Feel free to leave a comment or update if you have visited and seen the cats. I would love to know how they are doing.
