I have been visiting this place for almost 2 decades, usually to buy its famous (trojanskie krofe), but I also ate there a few times.. nothing particularly special about the food though, it’s okay but not great.. you’d find some Slovenian and most typical international dish. Anyway I had a bit of bitter experience last Sunday, when I came for lunch. A lady greeted me, then called her colleague to show me my table. This new lady told me to follow her, but she went inside the kitchen, I was confused but I decided to follow her anyway, then all the staffs there screamed at me that this was a kitchen!! I pointed to the lady but she was talking with her other coworker and seemed to forgot about me! I went out of the area and waited 15 seconds and decided to look for someone else, but finally the lady went out from the kitchen, found me and showed me my table, left without apologizing or whatnot.. it’s just confusing. I know they were busy, but this was unprofessional! The was packed even though it’s half way past the lunchtime (13.30)! My waiter on the other hand was genuinely friendly and fast.. ate my salad, ordered krofe to go, paid and left Beautiful with huge donuts!! Very overrated place, we ate two one with hazelnut chocolate and one with vanilla filling. The vanilla one was dry and too few in both of the donuts. The donut itself is avarage at best. Also they "sereved" it in a plastic bag... I was at the same place like 9 years ago and Krofi are not that good how it use to be. Before it was hand made and now is just industry. If you buy 6 you get plus one for free. Recommend! We ordered for takeaway. The were huge, but the inside was quite minimal. After eating one, unfortunately, I experienced some stomach discomfort. They were tasty overall, but not as special as I expected. I thought there would be a wider variety to choose from. Delicious food at great value for money. A must-stop for donuts! Prices are not high and portions are big. You can buy their doughtnuts. Toiletes are clean and you have free parking also for buss. For years, I have eaten at the Trojane at least 3 times a year. Yesterday, I went Trojane and I ordered many things and also one sandwich and I paid for that ridiculous sandwich 6€ and I went back to place to asked why did they just put meat into the bread without any vegetables and the girl who was speaking at the beginning in English, she started to answer me in Slovene even I asked in English however, I understand in Slovene as well and she told me that I have to pay extra 3€ for the veggies. The dough is soft and tasty. ❌ But then you get to the filling… or rather, you don’t. The amount of is so tiny that it wouldn’t even be enough for a small doughnut, let alone their big one. Without a rich filling, the doughnut just loses its soul. Nothing special, nothing memorable, and definitely not something worth driving countless kilometers for like in the past. Maybe they were legendary once, but today that glory is definitely gone. And then the giant kremšnita… Yes, it’s huge, but it’s gelatinous, flavorless, and has no aroma at all. Honestly, one of the worst kremšnitas I’ve ever tasted. Size means nothing when the quality is this poor.
