The estate and with food was an otherworldly experience. The winery is a little known shrine of history, culture, art, botanical rarities, tradition and extravagance. I have never been through such an incredible journey through Greek, Roman, Arabic, Medieval, Spanish and modern times. Our guide on site, originally from Sheffield, is a passionate historian and fed us with useful information and several curious facts. Our enologist, Laura, was absolutely brilliant and very knowledgeable about any aspects of the vinification process. Highly recommended at a very reasonable price! We spent a magical couple hours in this beautiful vineyard! The Pupillo family bought the stunning castle & grounds and have converted it to a virtually self-sufficient and environmentally vineyard. The location is beautiful & our charming guide Julia was very knowledgeable and entertaining. An unexpected bonus was free time to explore the beautiful gardens. The giant ficus tree was almost out of a fantasy film! Then the with homemade produce was fabulous! The wines were delicious & the accompanying produce added to the experience. We really didn't want leave! We did the experience here in late September 2024. Giulia was our guide for the day and she was fantastic. She showed us around the historic and beautiful grounds and the vineyards. She was incredibly knowledgeable. We then had lunch while doing the tasting. They say it’s a light lunch so we also ordered the cheese board. We did not need to do this! The food is four courses and incredibly delicious. All the veg is grown on the land as well. A very enjoyable afternoon and one our highlights from the holiday. We had not booked in advance but it was no problem to for 4 people join the and tasting. The was great - not too long nor too short. Our guide made the experience superb! The historical scenery was incredible. The was very good as well, we really recommend to also get the cheese board to pair with the wines. All in all I couldn’t recommend this and enough! A must when in Siracusa! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Our hosts were very informative, warm and welcoming. They gave us a guided of the facilities and grounds, located on an ancient site with Greek ruins and buildings dating back to the 1200s. The concluded with a lovely and charcuterie board, all with home-made ingredients! Highly recommend! We had an intimate visit among a secret garden, a castle and an unforgettable Pollio Moscato Nestled on the lush, fertile grounds of the Pupillo estate, just outside the ancient city of Siracusa, Cantine Pupillo feels like a secret garden on the edge of the Mediterranean. The air, filled with floral bloom and salt-kissed breezes, invite you to slow down, sip, and savor the wine. Must visit if you are in the neighborhood and like crisp, fresh, mineral white wines. We visited today and was totally impressed. Having visited the country in California extensively, we were not prepared to fall in love. The setting. The architecture. The food. The host. The story. The wine!!! All are just amazing. Add this to your list and ship yourself a case home! We did a which included a of the winery and a lunch. What an amazing experience, the winery is stunning, the wines were incredible and the lunch was one of the most delicious meals I've had in Italy.
