Our led us through dimly lit streets, revealing the dark secrets hiding behind Tudor walls: 💀 The Plague Years – when Stratford’s narrow lanes echoed with fear, and homes were sealed with a red cross if sickness entered. ⚰️ Murder & Revenge – chilling stories of jealousy, betrayal, and death that could have inspired Shakespeare’s darkest tragedies. 👻 Ghostly Whispers – from the churchyard at Holy Trinity to the haunted corners of old Guildhall, spirits still said to by moonlight. 🩸 Dr. John Hall’s “cures” – Shakespeare’s son-in-law and physician, whose questionable remedies were sometimes worse than the illness itself! 🧙‍♀️ Witchcraft & Superstition – tales of accused witches, dark omens, and charms once buried beneath Stratford’s doorsteps. 🌊 The River’s Toll – where tragedy struck those who found a watery end beneath the calm reflection of the Avon. It was eerie, fascinating, and oddly funny at times — the perfect mix of history, theatre, and ghost story 🎭 Who knew that this peaceful hides such sinister secrets beneath its Shakespearean charm? 🌙 📍 The Sinister Side of Shakespeare’s Stratford Walking – highly recommended for anyone who loves with a chill and a chuckle 😉 #StratfordUponAvon #SinisterShakespeare #GhostWalk #HistoryWithATwist #HauntedEngland #TravelWithBabs #NightTour #SpookyStories What a fantastic 1½hrs around Stratford 😊 Loved the passion, presentation (along with the humour) and information given by the very well presented 😀 I hope to include a picture 📸 with this review. Was amazed with what the camera can see over the human 👁 A1BangOn!!! Highly recommended 👌🏽 Owen was a wonderful for this 2-hour tour. He shared with us lots of of Shakespeare and his as well as fun anecdotes. Highly recommend this tour. John did a fabulous job of showing us around Stratford upon Avon with lots of interesting facts delivered in a fun and informative way! Highly recommend at the beginning of your stay to get your bearings. Thoroughly recommend the ghost walk. Great entertainment from an excellent presenter. Do this first to get discounts on the Shakespeare birthplace and other discounts! We did a walking yesterday with Owen. Not only does Owen know he’s history, he kept us entertained the whole time with funny stories and information about the town. It was the BEST 2hrs! Owen was outstanding! Our was brilliant; animated and enthusiastic. He really made the and stories come to life. We're very grateful he entertained us on a cold October evening, and it was refreshing that it wasn't about Shakespeare! We booked the ghost tour, 1.5 hours walking around the haunted areas ghostly in the town. It was very interesting, thank you Edward for a spooky evening. Would recommend Great 2 hour around Stratford Upon Avon. Josh, our guide, was friendly & knowledgeable, the was interesting & entertaining. Excellent introduction to the town, it's history, & of course, Shakespeare! Great today by Glinda. Highly recommend this as it’s really informative and well worth the money. We had a fantastic evening on the Stratford ghost with our guide, Edward, who was very much dressed for the part with top hat, cloak and cane (all used to maximum effect!). The storytelling was excellent, with plenty of humour thrown in. Edward led the group at a steady pace and was very considerate of passers by, organising our group and making room for them. A highly recommended evening out which was the perfect length (time and distance), excellent value for money and great fun! 👻 I booked a Stratford for Friday 17th October and turned up at the Swan Fountain to find that I was the only one booked in that day. The guide, Bobby, kindly advised that he was happy to take me round and do a 1-2-1 in effect which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was very informative, covering the of Stratford and of Shakespeare and his family. As well as covering the 3 theatres, we visited the Holy Trinity Church, where Shakespeare and his family are buried, followed by his school, the site of his house and his family home, as well as a number of other notable locations. Bobby was happy to share his deep knowledge and made the both interesting and very enjoyable. He was also very happy to answer my (many) questions. Jim Hodder Owen was a joy to spend 2 hours with. His warm and friendly personality combined with his extensive knowledge, made this walking memorable. Booking a walking with Stratford is a must if you want to be properly introduced to Stratford. I'd this again. Fantastic! Stratford Walk The (Josh) was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He was very welcoming and made the fun. Good content on history, as well as Shakespeare. A gentle 2 hour for all ages and abilities.
