One of the finest and authentic German town. The town itself is fortified in 14th century and towers were erected everywhere. Inside there is a st James church. Though protestant church ooty is having a relic and 2 euro entrance. The flat square is another added attraction. The rathuas and museum and ball covered with sugar chocolate nuts is the specialty. Everything here is hand made. Thr Christmas market here is famous throughout Germany. Hitler one said the authentic German royal life should ve like this town. They were brilliant here. I would you recommend going to visit them on arrival Do yourself a huge favor and book a tour, the guide we had was awesome, so knowledgeable and made the whole fun! Because of her I look forward to going to the museum and entering St. Joseph's church later. The was about 80mins long, unfortunately tours are only offered in German as of now (1st week of June 2020) but hopefully more languages will be added once international tourists return to Rothenberg. Was told no uncertain terms by the grumpy lady that it wasn’t running and it wasn’t for another month. Just saw it tonight running in English out the front of the town hall, which is really disappointing given we leave tomorrow morning Couldn’t have been less helpful if she would’ve tried with the current German train strike, telling us that there’s no way of getting back to Nuremberg or to Bamberg, unless we had a car. Certainly wouldn’t get that service from tourist Service in Australia would be avoiding that one if possible again. Definitely needs more sleep or some happy pills. Good and friendly service in the middle of a beautiful medieval little town. Providing correct and updated such as opening time of locations is essential for a tourist center, which unfortunately not fulfilled by the Rothenburg tourism service. They have wrong about the opening hours of the Old Craftman museum, they do not know the opening time of Toppler's Schlösschen, awful English translation for opening time of St. Jacobs Church and incorrect/ambiguous for Walburga tour..... All of these makes it irresponsible as a tourist center. Very nice and beautiful city!
