Long time ago in a zweibrucken far far away Nothing to do but sit on a bench but it's really nice I departed Kreuzberg Kasern in '82 as an Army dependant & I haven't been back since. The pictures that were displayed were interesting how much has changed since the US Military departed after the Cold War ended. Where the observatory is located did not exist when we were there. This is all new, the structure, hill this entire area. Many of the buildings have been removed & the buildings that are still there haven't changed a bit. I hope one day I'll be able to visit Zweibrucken & all the other similar places once again. I resided in Germany in the following years (1967-69, 70-75 & 79-82). Wirklich witzige Idee die Sternwarte so zu gestalten. Ich war am Wochenende dort. Not as big as i imagined but it does look like R2D2 & the drive to the location & the view from the top is awesome. Not much to do there beside taking a picture, but the location is beautiful and the R2-D2 painting is very well made! This is a privately owned observatory that opens some Fridays after dark. The people running it do it for their love of stars and do it for free. Nice place we watched Jupiter and later Saturn. See their website for opening Fridays and events. Herrlich,was der Verein macht. Noch schöner wäre es,wenn die Beleuchtung von der Wiese und drumherum aus gewesen wäre. Nice to go visit especially if you are a huge star trek fan. An amazing experience especially for Star Wars fans. The observatory is small and kind of hard to spot, but it is worth visiting. Sieht wirklich cool aus - ein Highlight für Star Wars Fans Cool to go and see but don’t plan on spending more than 10 minutes Außergewöhnliche Sternwarte, sehr schön für einen kleinen Spaziergang Wir waren bereits öfter dort oben um den Sonnenuntergang zu sehen und jetzt auch zwei mal mit meinem Sohn oben um mal durch das Teleskop. Freitags hatten wir einen tollen Blick auf Jupiter und seine Monde und heute konnten wir dort mit anderen Menschen die Partielle Sonnenfinsternis schauen. Die Herren vom NAWI sind sehr freundlich und erklären gerne alles. Auch sehr verständlich für Kinder.
